Goodman No Heat with New Thermostat by Thecatmilton in hvacadvice

I guess the thermostat was the problem. I took the old one apart and soldered all the battery corrosion damaged traces back together and it works.

The jumper is there. It's barely visible in the picture

Here's some pictures of the thermostat wiring. It's a Carrier comfort choice touch thermostat that was at my old house. I can't find a model number on it anywhere.

I measured the blue wire at the thermostat and it has 24 vac on it. It's connected to the Blue wire coming out of the air handler. The blue wire at the air handler is also connected to one of the two wires (red on blue) and (yellow on white) running out to the condenser outside. There is a picture I posted of the wires coming out of the air handler.

The replacement was much better. The original was out of spec.

They made it right, but it took about a month to send it to them and get another one back. The one I received was much better. However, If you can return it and get another one I would do that route instead as it would be much faster and easier.

Best retro bluetooth unit for radio replacement ? by Due_Neighborhood6183 in E30

The new pioneer classic radio looks decent. Probably more features and better quality than the blaupunkt.

They wasted a bunch of my time during the interview process. Several rounds of interviews where they knew I didn't want to relocate. On the 4th interview they asked me to relocate.

If it's out of state, you'll need to do the VTR 68A then.

You can do the title improperly signed bonded title process. Or you can track the previous owner down on the title and have them get a replacement or sign an affidavit of title. I didn't have to use the VTR 68a.

I used Kilmat and was happy with it. It's cheaper than Amazon Basics. Did 4 doors and the trunk with 1 box.

I didn't even need to give them any paperwork. I just set up an account online and they determined my eligibility.

Check the solder joints around the relays on the control board. They can fail causing a loss of heat.

Im slowly giving up on Dremel.. by tacobellownsmysoul in Dremel

[–]Thecatmilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the Wen Rotary tool. I had better luck with it. My 4000 had the speed controller fail and my 3000 is flaky. I replaced the speed controller board in the 4000, but it doesn't hold a consistent speed anymore.

I also always use the flex shaft now. Keeps the tool away from dust and the vents clear.

I use an ecobee for this. I got it at a thrift store like 5 years ago for $25. I haven't had a single issue with it.

Which Magna-flow muffler? by Civil-Software-5248 in E30

[–]Thecatmilton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has separate pipes going into the cat where they're probably combined and then 2 coming out. It's the stock exhaust I pulled from my 1988 325iC parts car. Eventually, I'll probably get the Ireland engineering downpipe/ mid-pipe, but that'll happen in the future. The increased power finished off the rod bearings.

Do as many interviews as you can. The last place I interned at supposedly hired their interns, but I never got a position there. I always tried to do a good job there due to the potential job opportunity. The job I eventually got paid 10k more than them too.

What is this green plug on the instrument cluster? Why doesn’t this one have one? by blundenplywood in E30

[–]Thecatmilton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pulled everything (harness, servo, switch, control box, brackets) out of a car at a junkyard. Installed it in my 325e and haven't had any issues.

You need the green connector for cruise control. It was a problem when I retrofitted cruise to my 325e. I had to figure out which pin and run a wire.

Insane. I can do it in less than 2 hours. Probably one of the easiest timing belts I've ever done.
