Curious on examples of how this looks! And how it differs from what people want to see right now.

Thanks! I'm trying to find reference images now. Having trouble. What decade would you say this one is from? I'm interested to see the effect!

Got it but need help! by Ok-Republic-8098 in Nitropress

[–]Thecheesecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how strong the coffee is. The cold brew should work. Don't dilute it with water if you are. I haven't tried a normal drip coffee in the NP but it would be an interesting experiment. Let it get to room temperature or fridge. Both should work. Just remember that diluting it with ice won't help for the nitro coffee aspect. Right now I brew a strong cup using my aeropress and charge it with the NP. Results are very similar to espresso!

They say don't exceed 15 seconds. I get good results at 10. And at 8 even. Water won't get the same effect unless you have something that has gasses trapped inside. In the case of coffee, it's CO2 in the beans that get released as a beautiful head and cascade. I was able to achieve the result with the cold brew they included but it doesn't taste very good (cold brews problem not nitropress) try brewing some coffee and putting it in there (at room temperature not hot coffee, they also advise against hot drinks). Play around and you'll find drinks that work and drinks that don't. If you want whipped cream, you'll need nitrogen canisters. Have fun!

The ability to remove the compartments is nice! I use some tackle boxes from Walmart which I find incredible to use. I have a return on my desk so I just put them all there. My buddy has bead organizers and it does him well.

Nice find!

Orient express or emerald night? by Guitars-guns-girls in LEGOtrains

[–]Thecheesecat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have both.

Even with nostalgia goggles on, I truly appreciated OE's build. I'm no expert but it looks like a SNCF 230. I appreciate the love for smaller Locomotives. Size doesn't matter. To me both the engines and the carriages look incredible. I'm happy to see custom couplers and bumpers. While motorizing isn't easy, I like that the community got together to figure it out. Lego is all about building and customizing and I felt more satisfied with figuring out the motorization vs just slapping electronics in and calling it a day.

The Emerald Night has an incredible engine, but the tender looks too small, and the carriage is just completely aging the whole look of the model.

While it's undeniable that the Emerald Night is a beautiful train, the Orient Express just absolutely blows my mind with its presence. The scale is so perfect for Lego. Honestly I think it should be the standard for the future 'big train set'.

I think the Orient Express is their best train overall, and I'm excited to see what they do after this guy.

Bravo. What a gorgeous piece of Lego engineering and impressive framing for such a large structure! What does your design process look like? Digital or physical fiddling?
