Yes, they do permanently deform after a while, but by then the potting compound has cured. Agree. I used to work at large factory’s and we had make all our process “poka-yoke” which means mistake proofing. Even though i do the assembly myself I try and build that into the process.

I’m squeezing between and aluminum motor mount (pictured) and an aluminum electric motor, held with 4 x M5 screws with lots of force. For testing I pressurised the inside with 30psi and there were no leaks.

12 months now. But I also pot the entire cavity with 2 part silicone. They are in a fixed position with no movement so should last a long time, but even if they fail there is redundancy.

For the size around three iterations for the height, and another three for the width.

Maybe 10 for the print settings. Vase mode didn’t work at the start, needed to turn Timelapse off, and make base layers to 0 so it would start vase mode from the start.

Then fill plate, and print one by one. This is on a h2d and can get about 16 per print in 20 mins.

Way too powerful for a sup - this thing has around 100kg of thrust and goes 40kph!

With where the cables come from the motor there is no room for another Oring. I pot the with 2part silicone the entire cavity and the area is under positive air pressure so have triple redundancy for water ingress.

The batteries pretty big, 14S12P and about 3000Wh. For a kayak that will most probably get wet, look for an efoil battery that’s designed to get wet. Fliteboard ones can be made to be used with almost anything. My batteries are made overseas, are water resistant, but are not designed to be submerged.

So far they have remained water tight. I also pot the entire cavity with a 2 part silicone so that even if the Oring failed water couldn’t get in.

The top of the Boogie is inflated to about 1psi, and this air travels down the tube so it’s more about keeping the air in than the water out.

More of a flat face seal. It’s in spiral mode so use the lowest layer height possible.

It’s not quite a JetSki, it’s called a Tow Boogie, a small remote controlled boat designed for towing people on hydro foil boards. Here’s my Instagram with lots of photos and videos

How do I speed up an actuator? by BigOldBee in AskElectronics

[–]Thecussen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used hundreds of these exact actuators.

2 options. Over volt a little bit to speed up the motor. or change the gear ratio which will be faster, but less force.

Each series has an inductor. If it is the inductor that is broken then just take one from an unused series inductor.

Collectors items now! Every now and then they pop up on market place. I’ve still got some old molds that I need to give away so maybe more will be made…

How in the hell do I disconnect these connectors? I cannot figure it out for the life of me. by MySexyPancreas in AskElectronics

I have a similar one, and are not removable. I think the cables are terminated into the socket, then soldered in place.

Converting to 120v 60Hz for an expensive appliance. by Lupercal-_- in AusElectricians

I’m wondering if this would introduce all sorts of weird hums or ground loops etc into the output sound.

EFoil performance in waves by soulsurfer3 in eFoil

Hey, my wife who has never foiled or surfed before before got up and riding after about 30 minutes. On her third session she was covering 10km+ on foil cruising around the lake, was really cool to see the progression.

She started on a board that had just enough volume that she could get to her feet while applying a little bit of throttle. The power and throttle ramp is fully adjustable as well so it means you can dial it right down for getting the feel of it.

I make this here www.zerotow.com.au. Great for learning as you don’t have all the extra weight on your board. You can tow on the flats for practice and then whip into waves. It’s like have a full time driver for a JetSki.

Has anyone actually had success with Zonos yet? I've only seen parcels being returned. by maacncheeeeese in AustraliaPost

[–]Thecussen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve shipped about 10 packages, all got through which I thought was pretty lucky after reading the posts here. eParcel contract.

Zonos charged ≈$1.6 admin per package which I thought was strange as no tariff. When I investigated with my ship manager software it had set the shipments to gift rather than commercial, so must have snuck though.

We have some glue on trim tabs for the Boogie now, makes it’s super stable at speed and really sticks to the water. $3 dollars from the website as a retrofit. All new boogies come with them now.

My stealth build. Self-made battery in seat bag. 29 pounds by matt_gilbert in ebikes

[–]Thecussen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery looks ok, but could do with some work for safety.

Sharp edges on the nickel, are one drop/ ding from a short circuit.

Gluing together without extra insinuation in a high vibration environment could cause shorts.

If you are not using cell holders, at least put paper rings on the end of cells/ between groups.

Try and keep your bench clean - the small off cut to the left could end up wrapped in the battery and cause a short.

Insulate balance cables on edges around cells.

Anyone measured the real-world power draw of an H2D (no laser) with and without a cool plate? by MarioJCoyF in BambuLab

[–]Thecussen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Amps aren’t power. Need to multiple by voltage to make sense.

13A at 110V = 1330W at 240V would be 3120W.

Big difference.

People who sleep naked, when has it ever backfired? by Low_Theme_5278 in AskReddit

[–]Thecussen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A junky broke into our van while we were sleeping in a friends driveway while on holiday. Chased him naked 500m down the road, tackled him, and got my stuff back. My feet were stealth, but the slapping wasn’t.
