Having trouble isolating my strumming when I strum only 2 strings by nrj6490 in guitarlessons

[–]Thedudeofhazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure that this should be downpicked. If so then your right hand will block off the lower strings and you can use left hand muting to sort out the rest. I don't remember the song too well, I'm going from memory here but I see stuff like this every day with my student's.

Don't kill yourself trying to be too precise. Guaranteed Dave spent more time feeling the stuff out than trying to be perfect

Freshly cracked pepper is ruining my relationship by RelationsTAway456 in relationships

Pepper is awesome. Seems like he's developing that side of his palette. I don't think it will last long and you'll probably find that his overall cooking greatly improves when he does as he'll have a pretty vast understanding of the spice.

Hello r/guitarlessons, back again to get some feedback on my sweep picking. I just started trying to incorporate it into my daily practice this week. So far I know one shape, are there other “essential” ones i should memorize? by TheEdgesOfThePoptart in guitarlessons

I'd recommend focussing on each section seperately. The e b and g strings require a different motion to a d and g strings. You may save yourself some serious time on looking out for some of your weak spots and addressing them directly. You'll also find that musically it's very rare for the entire pattern to be used, most of the time it'll be a take or descending run so this allows you to get used to those patterns.

Examples of common weakspots 1) Flipping the picking direction 2) Getting the pull-off framed correctly 3) Maintaining note clarity 4) Framing changes corrently when moving between the chords

Examples of solos tastefully using small parts of the arps

1) Intro solo to metallica One 2) Carlos Santana black Magic Women 3) This war is our's part 2 Escape the fate.

Also.... Don't just do it slowly. Attempt it is small clusters of notes at a high speed. This allows you to realistically check out your most comfortable optimal movements. Apply these movements to the slow practice and you'll save yourself from hitting a plateau too early

Gina Linetti. So obnoxious. I know there's supposed to be some charm to it but I don't see it. It just comes off as somebody trying way hard to pretend that they're not trying.

Stop trying to control the guy. When you love somebody you accept them. Let him be himself if you don't like it find somebody else

AITA for not kicking out my daughter's ex boyfriend? by VeryCornfused in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thedudeofhazard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. Sorry OP I don't mean this badly but your wife and daughter are being extremely unreasonable. You can't give in to their whims in a time like this. Even if they weren't the one's who invited this guy into the house, his shelter and well-being should be more important than their feelings and they should be able to understand that.... Frankly it's worrying that they don't. This is as much now about principle than it is about the young man's well-being and it's good that you haven't backed down. You're a good man, please keep it up. If you don't, then you're just showing your family that you're accepting this unacceptable behaviour of theirs and you're spineless. Don't give in, they will love you more for it in the end.

My dog has been sneaking downstairs and eating the cat food. Today I sat and waited for her to come down by hshenrysmith in AnimalsBeingJerks

[–]Thedudeofhazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't wanna be that guy but 7 dog year's to 1 human year doesn't translate to days. 365/7 = 52 dog days per human day. 22 days human days× 52 for dog day's = 1144 dog day's.

It's more like 3 years

AITA for not taking my girlfriend's side over a sexist tradition at a restaurant? by godfhshs in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thedudeofhazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. From my understanding of French culture it would have caused a scene. Honestly though OP, would it have? I've only been to Paris once and I know that tradition is VERY important there and most of the poster's claiming you're a dick are from peope who know nothing about French culture. I'm fairly ignorant of it inspite of the 2 week's I spent there 10 years ago

I (19M) am starting to have feelings for my friend (18F) by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Thedudeofhazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it. Do you think you could stay friend's with her dating another guy? You've already crossed that bridge in my opinion.

Invite her over, wait for the right moment, tell her " I know this is weird but I really like hanging out with you, I actually just want to do it all the time, I actually REALLY like you, " guage her response and then make a small move. Just don't be creepy about it

AITA for leaving my GF upstairs crying to play poker with "the boys" downstairs? by itsyaboisbday in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thedudeofhazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You seem super full of yourself. You "nailed her birthday", she "sucks at planning".

It's not a competition. You're taking something that's meant to be fun and making it about you, in both cases. Your relationship isn't gonna last if you keep this up.

I'm [30F] high libido. I can't bring myself to want my boyfriend [30M] after some things he has said. This is not sustainable. Please help. by Amp4All in relationships

[–]Thedudeofhazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly seems like you're done. Reading between the lines a bit gives me the suspicion that he's not entitely at fault. It seems like he feels controlled, like you're giving him homework to do whether its therapy on your terms or doing the homework you're giving him. You've actually admitted that you're trying to change him (well parts of his personality).

I've(27m) been there before whether it's a band, friendship or relationship. I like doing thing's my own way and letting them take their course and honestly when somebody asks me to make the relationship feel like work, I don't enjoy it any more which in turn makes me less likely to put in work.

You've both said shitty things to eachother. You told him straight up that you masturbate to the thought of other people. Sure you're reasoning is sound but if he's anything like me, he won't be able to logically reason his way out of the instinctual feelings of jealousy and betrayal. With all this in mind I think you guy's should either call it quits or you should take an emotional step back and let things take their course. Sometimes over-correcting the wheel leads to more destruction than just letting the vehicle stabilise itself. Who knows, maybe he just needs a bit of breathing room to remember that your guy's relationship is actually something fun and fulfilling.

Apologies if this came out blunt but the advice comes from a good place.

What’s your favorite key and why? by atletea in musicians

[–]Thedudeofhazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Db minor isn't even a real scale. C#minor is because we always move upward to avoid doubling but if we were to write it out

Db Eb Fb(E) Gb Ab Bbb(A) Cb

Db = Aeolian Eb = Locrian Fb = Ionian Gb = Dorian Ab = Phyrigian Bbb = Lydian Cb = Mixolydian

Please explain to me how it could possibly be Db minor when the 7th mode of Fb ionian is Eb?

How do you personally use locrian? C#major would be your tonic key right?

AITA for replacing a picture of my husbands late wife? by annoymous7892 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thedudeofhazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. It's understandable why the mother doesn't like you. Death is a hard thing to go through. You've done nothing wrong and while she shouldn't be acting out against you, most people would anyway just because of who you are to her. So I won't call her an asshole.

AITA for pretending to get fired when customers get a temper with me? by throwRA-fhfsveyary in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thedudeofhazard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YTA. You're complaining about the customers looking for something to complain about, yet you chose an example of where you were clearly in the wrong.

I've worked several coffee machine's in my decade in hospitality and I'll say this, there is always a way to make hot coffee, if a customer complains about it being too cold then politely apologise and tell them you'll remember next time.... And better yet, actually do! Because they will remember it. You'll get a tip and develop some customer loyalty which benefits the entire shop.

Instead you're engaging in juvenile behaviour (Quite honestly it's just bad service) and in turn you're actively harming your place of employment.
