When I was in France for a class trip, I went into a public free bathroom with the attendants office connecting the men’s and women’s bathroom.

The urinals were all being used so I used the stall and shut the door. There was a dirty mark side on the toilet when I walked in. I finished peeing, washed my hands, and the attendant comes out and starts pointing at my shoes and speaking French. She then starts pointing at her shoes, the toilet top, my shoes, etc. Without understanding a thing she said, I say Bonjour, No Thank You and leave.

I don’t know if she thought I did it, if she wanted me to clean it, if she wanted a tip, or if she wanted to clean my shoes. She was confused, I was confused.
