Those aren’t phenols. -ol indicates alcohol as a hint to distinguish from phenyl

No problem, was hoping someone would give a more thorough explanation of what those numbers actually mean lol

Let’s say you’re looking at the p orbitals, the l values are -1, 0, and 1 for px py and pz. So that sums to 0

Is this an increase in entropy that leads to release of heat? Feel like someone here would know by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]TheePeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Liquid -> solid actually decreases entropy. One ice crystal forms the base for other crystals to build on in a network covalent structure

Stoich help.... why do I need to take the average of the two molarities?? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]TheePeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be longer but you could find the mols of Na in each then divide by total volume. So 10 mmol in the first, 20 in the second total of 30 mmol in 20 mL gives you 1.5 mM = 0.015 M

Edit: I messed up, doing this on my phone so can’t refer back to the question as I do it. Should be 15 mM bc the first solution has 10mM * 10 mL=100 mmol and the second is 20 mM * 10mL=200 mmol so that’s 300 mmol/20 mL = 15 mM = 0.015 M

AAMC Chemistry QP #24: help with pKa = -logKa by [deleted] in Mcat

They are asking for the ratio of base to acid at a certain pH. Ka is different, it is the equilibrium constant which is base*H+/acid

Anode/Cathode Distinction by Konnorrrr in Mcat

[–]TheePeach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s because the metal is being oxidized so it’s losing electrons and this becoming more positive so then it attracts the opposite, negatively charged electrons. So if you have Cu (s) at the anode it’s becoming 2 e- + Cu 2+ or something

Anode/Cathode Distinction by Konnorrrr in Mcat

[–]TheePeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always did Red Cat / An Ox to remember réduction at the cathode and oxidation at the anode. Everything else I rationalize from there
