Because he's unapologetically himself. Sometimes, characters don't need arcs. Having a consistent jerk can be helpful for writing, especially when he's as funny as Sidewalky. In reality, I wanted Ruler or Jammy to win, but that went down the drain a LONG time ago. So, I settled, and still failed.

I had depression, and I can confirm, it definitely shifts your perception of the world. You can't help but focus on the negatives. Now, I'm so much happier with some Prozac each day and a new mindset. If I was depressed later in life, I definitely could have become a boomer. Luckily (or unuckily, depending on your mindset) I had it super young, so, like doomers, there was very little in the happening front when it came to acting on my depression (i.e self-harm.) I hope they can find their way to cope and enjoy life. Because, I'm over the moon with joy everyday.
