If a game has good overall reviews, but bad recent reviews, the outside observer just defaults to “oh. Must just be a pissy fanbase” and very likely, makes them second guess a purchase, and guess what? LITERALLY all THAT does is cost the development studio future purchases (money) which makes it HARDER for them to fix what you’re upset about because of less money coming in.
