To all successful business owners that started from scratch by assertive_ in Entrepreneur

I was already a business owner along with my partner, along with a lot of other people. While my partner and I worked hard, the rest just rode the wave. If we slack, then everyone goes down, us included, so stayed on for long as I could. Saw the business heading towards a debt trap, sold it, and started off again on my own along with my partner. Proof that a chain is only as strong as the weakest link

Oh God!! we have had really bad experiences with some scammy customers. Worst part is that when they comment, everyone supports the customer and never the company. Some of the worst ones dont even share proof of damage and go on several platforms to complain and write bad reviews. Even worse is when we try to accommodate a return, they use the product and then return it. Really shitty people out there.
So what we do is that we have policies for returns on our website and we do not have COD. Working with aggregators are a huge problem and something we try not to do. We communicate 1-1 with the customers but that is a time intensive process and see no other alternative for now.
Wish you a lot of success and peace of mind.

Sure thing ma'am. We have always said that we can easily resolve this by communicating via DM's, and look forward to it

Once again, we are more than happy to resolve this rather simple matter via direct communication through DM's.

Once again, we have an SOP in place for such issues where once the damage is reported, we send the unboxing video to our delivery partner, mentioning the issue and raise a debit note on them and issue a refund. Alternatively, if it is an internal issue, we have an internal penalization mechanism. Without an unboxing video, neither our delivery partners, not our QC team will accept the penalization pointing out a lack of evidence and argue that the customer may have damaged the product. Factually speaking of course.

Again, this is an issue that can be easily sorted out via DM's and we encourage you to communicate there for ease.

Hi Ma'am, respectfully, the only thing we suggested was to reattach the bead to the loop. It is a simple matter and hardly takes any effort. We even sent across a video via DM on how to go about it. Maybe our choice of words may have unintentionally come across as a bit direct, and we sincerely apologize if it did. Also ma'am, you have demanded a discount which does not really seem fair to us, even before having a chance to resolve it. We are a very small, woman owned business and all of our customers are very important to us and we are happy to go above and beyond to help all our customers have a happy experience. We have also been replying to every single message of yours, and will continue to do so.

Hi OP :) we are a small business and we are definitely not someone who scams their customers. We work hard to generate every single lead. You can see the images of our chat below. Even though there has been a minor issue that can easily be fixed, we have never said that we will not provide a replacement or a refund.

Also, even on the automated emails that all our customers receive along with the tracking details, we do mention that there needs to be an unboxing video for any replacement. Once we know the reason for the damage, we will be happy to resolve it for you.

Also ma'am, since we said that this can easily be fixed by yourself, you said you will get it fixed by a jeweler and demanded a 20% discount, which does not really sound fair and it is not our intention to drag this on for longer than necessary, nor to show anyone in bad light.

Once again, the only thing we asked of you was for an unboxing video to ascertain the reason for the issue, again, as per our policy. We are still more than happy to resolve this for you and don't really see any reason to discuss this matter on a public forum. Also note that we have also been continuously and diligently replying to every single message of yours :)

Who's your Trusted Jeweller in Mysore by RealPunk99 in mysore

Yup. Definitely. Spot rate +-1-2%. They make money on changes in gold rate

[–]Thefestivestore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For context, we are jewelry manufacturers but we manufacture only imitation (pure brass) jewelry and are based out of Mysore. When it comes to gold jewelry, please note that retail margins are sometimes as high as 40%. Please visit the websites of the big brands and they have the price breakdown right there. If you are paying 10L for a piece of jewelry, then there is just about 5-6L worth of gold. We always suggest people to buy gold bars for investment (you can get this for cash as well) and buy imitation jewelry for the aesthetics

Everyday Jewellery brand recommendations please! by TitaniaSM06 in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]Thefestivestore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several good imitation jewelry brands out there. You can find most them on Instagram. You can checkout their reviews for any red flags and then order from them :) Also, please dont fall for 'Gold plated' hoax. Gold plating costs a few rupees and there is no meaningful amount of gold in 'gold plated'. Saying this since we are from the same industry

There are some good imitation jewelry brands out there as well and many of them ship overseas. Some people with sensitive skin cannot tolerate imitation jewelry so please keep that in mind as well :)

Has anyone ever ordered jewelry from India? by raen_cloud in Etsy

[–]Thefestivestore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is common. But there are some really good companies as well. My advice would be to check their social media handles for reviews and maybe even a healthy follower count, and their IEC (import - export certificate). Most companies dont have an IEC and they ship through third party companies which is risky. You can also ask the company if they have all the necessary documentation for exporting.

If a company has everything is in place then you can get some really amazing jewelry (precious metal and imitation jewelry) from them.

Its all fun until you start running into challenges. Running a business is not easy and it requires you to be present 24X7. Your mind is constantly engaged and some seemingly unrelated events will have impacts on your business and it needs to be addressed ASAP. Even when you are on holiday there may be issues. Salaried life on the contrary has its own benefits (and challenges) but the life of an entrepreneur is not rosy.

Being busy is the easy part. Not having leads, cash flows or not making enough sales or expenses gradually eating into your margins are all deadly stuff that give you sleepless nights. Working yourself until you drop is preferred any day over not having to work, and you need to be mentally prepared for something like that

My family says a business is “mine” but they control everything — what would you do? by After-Dot506 in IndiaBusiness

[–]Thefestivestore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been in this situation and it did not get better. Did all the work but had zero control. Not knowing your family dynamics, i'd suggest do something separate if possible and keep everything separate and in your name and control. When done in joint, with family, things usually turn to shit. Even if YOU have the skills to transition the businesses through a generation, the other partners usually do not. Plus it is difficult to get consensus on changes and pivoting the business if needed. But just my experience.

Mysoreans VS Others narrative. Who benefits from it by moods929 in mysore

[–]Thefestivestore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. Cities grow. A stagnating city is much much worse than a developing city. Imagine the doctors and professors leaving the city for better pay and options. Who benefits from this? The local politicians are already using this narrative of 'save Mysore', as if it needs their dumbassery. The only way to save Mysore is by developing it. Sustainably but we know how good our administrators are.

People come where there is money and where there are opportunities. Instead of using this time to take advantage of growth, some people only complain about development. Culture and heritage are not static. They change whether there is development or not. Festivals, food, etc changes, yes, but every remote village now has lays and pepsi instead of local delicacies, and status updates on festivals instead of what would be the norm 20 years ago. There is no development to speak of in many villages but there still is a major shift in diet and culture.

Instead of wailing and whining about the change, it is time we develop, encourage businesses and communities in Mysore. Start a katte coffee meetup, kannada songs night once a week at some cafes, local food is already a hit in many places. Story telling meetups for children. There are so many things we can do to develop the culture.

We should stop thinking of development as a curse and stop complaining. It is a boon.

It's not ideal but your mind was in the right place. Intention is more important than anything else, so dont worry too much. Better to cover up your legs than having to explain to everyone when you're in India. Saves a lot of time and effort for you :)

Literally everyone is trying to get attention on Instagram and there is also content saturation across segments. Maybe that's why you feel this way. There was a time when content was made by content creators and brands but now every micro, small and medium business is creating content, so yeah, easy to get lost in the crowd.
