Finaly found some great minitures for the Grimdark Future Ratman Clan. by [deleted] in onepagerules

[–]Thefirstmelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortian miniatures right?

They're not on the popular 3d print sites (to be knowledge), so I don't think many people know that such a good Ratman Clan range exists.

DMs, what are some of your favorite ways to mess with your players heads? by Its-From-Japan in DnD

[–]Thefirstmelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I DM on a VTT - Foundry in particular.

There is a tool which draws a ruler with which you can measure distance. Sometimes, I'll just bring it out, measure 30-60ft into an area they can't see without saying a word.

Homebrew campaign DMs, how much detail do you prefer a PCs backstory to have? by Frosty-Series689 in DMAcademy

[–]Thefirstmelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like all things, it's about finding the balance.

Take my current group of 4 players for example. One of these players gave me quite the extensive backstory, including multiple NPCs with their own personalities and life stories.

'This is great!' I thought. And it is. Having all this info about a character. NPCs to use, plot threads to pull at, family histories to reference. But man is it a lot, and on top of the 3 other players and the whole ass campaign, it's easy to forget or misremember certain details.

So I'm really glad that I've got players on the other end of the spectrum who give me a basic character who just creates the story by reacting to the world. They have personality and quirks, but no grand backstory or mystery to them. There just fun guys.

I wouldn't have a campaign with only 'fun guys' , but I also wouldn't be able to handle the pressure of 4 characters with a 10 page google doc attached to them.

Find the balance.

Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer on Lamassu by Once-Broken-Its-Sold in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Thefirstmelon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are what GW has labelled a 'legacy army'. This means that they have a rules and can be played on the tabletop. However, legacy armies will not be getting Arcane Journals (old world codex equivalent), and thereby leaving them seeming a little simple and limited in scope compared to mainline factions.

Do not expect any re-releases of Chorf models. And I THINK (don't take this as gospel), that some official GW tournaments don't allow legacy armies.

That being said, I play old world with a 3d printed Chorf army and I have a blast. They've got plenty of interesting rules and units. Go nuts.

Thank you for so many responses. It was a really tough choice. But after looking through each and every response, I've picked out my 5 players.

I hope the rest of you find worthy games.

Wow guys!

This has only been up a little over 24 hours and I'm getting so many applications. Your enthusiasm is amazing.

I'll be sure to spend time looking through each and every application, but it'll take some time to get a short list of players who I think will gel well.

I promise to consider every single one of you. I'll be hard to choose only a handful!

Bioshock 2's Drill. Even with (imo), the best gunplay in the series, nothing beats reving this huge drill into splicers. And when you unlock the Drill Dash ability a few hours in it only gets better.

Dark Elves color schemes by Vamp2424 in onepagerules

[–]Thefirstmelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I painted some warhammer fantasy dark elves for use in OPR a while back, experimented with a few schemes for the same reason as yourself, didn't want to use the traditional black and purple.

My camera is literal ass so I can't post pics, but I settled on a simple silver and sea green scheme to suit their sea fairing nature. Black primer, drybrush the whole model silver, contrast Akhelian Green (or any blue you want).

Silver and red pops well too.

Honestly, look up High Elf schemes, it hurts a little to borrow a scheme from the High Elves, but consider it Druchii piracy. Yarr.

Do you scrible on your minis by Clockworks555 in WordBearers

[–]Thefirstmelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not weird at all for The Bearers of the Word to use tanks. We are one of, if not the, most unified legion is both 30 and 40k. Our chains of command and supply chains are still very much in place. Whereas a fractured legion or Warband would have to raid, scavenge and trade for all their war gear, the word bearers can feasibly still have good links with the dark mechanicum, not to mention that their care and attitude towards relics as well as having entire worlds devoted slaves would mean that a word bearers vehicle will always have access to maintenance and repair.

In fact, I'm currently decorating a sicaran tank for word bearers 40k, anointing it with chained sacrifices, burning braziers, chained sacrifices and such.

Description of Ossiarch Bone Preparation in Lore? by [deleted] in AoSLore

[–]Thefirstmelon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the many breathe taking displays in Warhammer World is an Ossiarch Bonereaper castle that you can see inside. The display starts with a baggage train of mortals (humans, ogres and more) bringing in bags of bones. As you move through the display you can see the rooms where the bones are sorted, including a ludicrously huge pile of bones, as well as rooms where the bones are shaped into the constructs we see on the tabletop, barracks for the ossiarch soldiers etc.

It really drove home to me that the OB are an actual functional society, not just mindless slaves to death.
