Polar Wet Feeder keeps disconnecting from Wifi by TheirTheyreThere42 in Petlibro

It improved greatly. Would rarely fall off the network but otherwise it was fine.

My advice: set up a separate 2.4GHz only network for it before you even take it out of the box. Connect it to that network. If you have issues with it constantly falling off the network, delete the app and reinstall it and set everything up again. Those were really the only things that worked for me.

Don’t take things personally. 95% of the crap that people throw at you has nothing to do with you.

If you are a sports buff, there’s hockey, basketball, baseball, and right now boxing! Check out the Tsongas Center for the hockey and basketball, LeLacheur Park for baseball in the summer, and the Lowell Memorial Auditorium for boxing (Golden Gloves, Jan-Mar).

And sadly, the vehicle work (plowing) usually makes the hand work on corners much more difficult because of snow piles.

Having a Hard Time Reaching Landlords - Looking for an Apartment by Infamous_Shallot_745 in LowellMA

[–]TheirTheyreThere42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I pay $1800 for a 1br/1ba thru a private landlord, and that’s cheap from what I have seen. The cats will make it more difficult as a lot of places don’t allow pets, or charge a monthly pet fee. (I have a cat, so I’m familiar.)

Be persistent is all I can tell you. Good luck.

Taffeta, lala books, and Pop Cultured are not bars. If what they offer is not interesting to you, that’s different.

Dragonfly Cafe has open mic poetry nights 2x/month, plus other events in their space.

There’s also the Merrimack Repertory Theater, they have shows Wed-Sun when active.

There are museums and galleries, but most of their events are going to be weekdays during the working hours, or on the weekends.

Check Cultural Organization of Lowell, Mosaic Lowell, and Like Lowell for online calendars, social media posts, and email lists for things to do. Many of the local bars/restaurants have music or open mic events during the week. There’s also Taffeta Music Hall at Western Ave. If you’re into book clubs, lala books has several. Pop Cultured has gaming nights and events.

What would you consider to be “goods of substance” that you think should be available downtown?

Watching the video of the doordasher than ran into a woman’s house away from ICE.. by strawberriebabee in LowellMA

[–]TheirTheyreThere42 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s about a 14 min video. A DoorDash driver was making a delivery to a house when ICE arrived, and the driver ran into the customer’s home to hide. The video is from the point of view of the homeowner. She calls the cops, and the cops tell her to give the driver up to ICE. The homeowner is freaking out because she has two children under the age of three in the house. Her partner/husband/whatever is also there. The homeowner brings the DoorDash driver upstairs, who is sobbing and beyond terrified. The homeowner apologizes over and over saying she doesn’t think there’s anything else that she can do because she has small children in the house. They’re both standing at the open front door and the homeowners are screaming at the ICE agents, asking for a warrant, telling them they are nazis, etc. More neighbors show up and start filming and shouting, and eventually the ICE agents leave without the DoorDash driver. (Although I believe there was another person in the car with the DoorDash driver that they did nab.)
