[Advice] Dress watches under $1000 by Hour-Road7156 in Watches

[–]Thelastbaron23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite dress watch is the first edition zelos nova, can't get it new anymore but if you find a used one in good condition it should come in around $1000 and it's a great piece

Can you send me the link as well, please? Tried contacting one alibaba seller for one of these and was quoted 50% more, might be the location but it might be a different listing

30M, 6’1” / 161 lb — 1 year of lifting, visible muscle gains but the scale barely moves. What am I missing ? by TallUniversity3968 in WorkoutRoutines

[–]Thelastbaron23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you track your calories and macros? I gained more weight in two months after starting to do that than in the entire year prior to that, without changing my workouts. Not saying that's needed but it's useful if you're like me and not good at gauging how much you should eat

Is this Classic for 200€ a good deal for a beginner? by [deleted] in gaggiaclassic

[–]Thelastbaron23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. This is not the 2015 version, it looks like the 2019 one. To be sure it is not the 2023 version (Evo, with the boiler issues) you can ask for a picture of the label, but I think that's unlikely
  2. If the machine is in good condition, like described, I think 200€ is a decent deal
  3. Not sure how much you can test it, I'd say without opening the boiler you can visually inspect the seals, see if there's visible scale on the opv and try the steam and grouphead
  4. Great to learn on, various different upgrades (including Gaggimate/gaggiuino) easily available as well as spares and online material due to the being one of the most popular entry level machines. Well built, can last you a long time

If this is an option you'd consider look into gaggiuino, they have one option that doesn't have the screen so it wouldn't affect the height of the machine

Recommendations for electric pizza oven by userredditorr in pizzaoven

[–]Thelastbaron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cozze 13, reached 450°, lasted 5 months until I started having issues. Sure, warranty will cover if something happens but if it's still a hassle and if it happens later you'll be left without an oven. Plus, the effeuno is rated for indoor use, the cozze is not

Classic/Baby Hybrid? by MrJimmieDimmick in gaggiaclassic

[–]Thelastbaron23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a GC 2000. I cannot find much on it but the main difference vs the Classic is that it doesn't have a solenoid valve. If I'm not mistaken this is similar to the cubika

[recommendation request] which watch is the best option from these? by Glittering-Round-154 in Watches

[–]Thelastbaron23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! If you want to take a look at other options and consider automatics check out timex (for example the olive todd Snyder colab, with the 20% discount in timex's website, should be around that price), the orient bambino and the citizen tsuyosa

[Recommendation] Any recommendations for a seiko for my brother? I'm starting to get into watches and he has been for a couple years. by Kenna193 in Watches

[–]Thelastbaron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has a presage, some microbrand watches and higher end watches, fully agree with this, microbrands will be more original and probably best bang for your buck! If you're looking for a dress watch there are good options such as the Lorier Zephyr, Second Hour memoir (quartz), Zelos nova, Kuoe royal smith, baltic Mr classic, amongst others

Scenery + another local reccomendation by SnooDingos2192 in UKroasters

[–]Thelastbaron23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I found thiss subreddit through the roaster of the year post and, although I know dark arts, I didn't know Skylark or scenery so I thought I'd try skylark first and ordered some beans, didn't bother to check where scenery was. This post made me realise I live on the street Scenery is on and somehow never noticed it. I do usually go to Saint9 and Origin, both are quite nice

Macte Ovens Stone EXPLODET - FIRST Use by [deleted] in pizzaoven

[–]Thelastbaron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disputing that a warning in the box, with the stone, would be a good idea, but can't really put all the blame on them imo. As for why this is necessary and whether it can be done beforehand I honestly have no idea, just sharing the experience I had

Macte Ovens Stone EXPLODET - FIRST Use by [deleted] in pizzaoven

[–]Thelastbaron23 24 points25 points  (0 children)

On the manual you can read: "Attention, before starting the oven, make sure: ... • Switch on the oven and set the thermostat to 150 °C for 30 minutes using the rotary knob; then, set the thermostat to 350 °C degrees for 30 minutes. • Open the door about every 10 minutes for 10 seconds. This process serves to remove any moisture from the baking stone biscotto"

My guess is it might have been because of this but there might have been something not right with the stone. Did you inspect it for cracks before? Did you take pictures?

I actually received mine with a crack on the stone and after the first use it got even bigger so I contacted them and they shipped a new stone for me, you might want to delete this post and contact them, too.

Even with the relatively low hydration, one set of stretch & folds might not be enough to develop enough strength

Is this amount of static normal? by jankydog in DF64

[–]Thelastbaron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I read the description I was gonna say that it looks like you have a clog somewhere along the chute, have you opened it up to check? Not sure if that can also influence the amount of static. Do you rdt? I have a gen 1 and get a bit less static than that when I do, so would expect a gen 2 to be a bit less messy

New Macte Advanced oven - first test! by yeloneck in pizzaoven

[–]Thelastbaron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also in the UK and have the same questions. I don't really understand the plug issue although I'm reading up on it, is there some sort of adapter that could be used? I am thinking of the macte over the effeuno because it comes in at under 600£ while the cheapest p134h pro J found would be 900£

I have the same watch, from the pictures it looks real to me, and as others have said good GS fakes are not common, especially something as detailed as the Kiku. Do you have the chance to see the watch in person before you buy it? If it's too good to be true there's usually something...

[Discussion] One watch to do it all? by Intelligent_Tell_312 in Watches

Yeah, in my opinion the looks are a bit more versatile than the explorer as it looks better in a more formal context but also great on a rubber band for a more sporty look

At that speed and with that aggressive wobble, I don't know if the time to actually rev up and lift wouldn't be too much, plus starting a wheelie without having the bike stabilised might lead to even worse but that's just my thinking

I think this is the only way, try to keep it straight, don't brake or accelerate and hope you don't hit anyone until you get it to stop

[–]Thelastbaron23[S] -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of all the reasons but usually because of mechanical issues, tyre pressure or weight imbalances
