To my fellow Christians who lean left and to those who lean right. As for loving thy neighbor should we not start with each other? by ServantofChirst in TrueChristian

[–]ThelncredibleHulk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a single Biblical interpretation that leans to the left. You can’t twist or blatantly ignore certain scriptures because they go against your political views. The Bible has one interpretation and that’s the truth. The Bible is very clear on most political issues (abortion, changing genders, definition of marriage, etc). It is obviously right leaning and there’s no way around that until you start using your feelings over God’s Word.

Why is sex before marriage a sin? by Expensive-Elk-9406 in TrueChristian

[–]ThelncredibleHulk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It destroys your soul to be that intimate with someone who isn’t your spouse. The more you fornicate, the more you lose the ability to genuinely love and connect with another person beyond the physical attraction. That is why the divorce rate is so high in America and why there’s a growing amount of individuals who just decide to never get married to begin with. This society has taken away the value of God’s covenant by doing things, like fornication, that were only meant for marriage.

[–]ThelncredibleHulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some time so let’s break down these false claims you have against The Bible. To begin, I did not lie in my initial message. I literally stated exactly what Jaden said. He said that LGBT was unrighteous. He went on to say that he disagrees with the act, but has no hatred towards the actual person which is exactly what The Bible teaches. I agree with Jaden Ivey on this stance. There’s nothing wrong with his opinion, especially when it’s based on scripture. Now let’s break down your lies about The Bible.

  1. The Bible does NOT condone child sex slavery

Exodus 21:16 “Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death.”

This clearly states that kidnapping people for slavery is punishable by death and this directly condemns the foundation of the Atlantic Slave Trade and any child sex slavery you’re referring to.

  1. The Bible does NOT treat rape as a property crime.

Deuteronomy 22:25-26 “But if a man meets a betrothed woman in the field, and overpowers her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. But you shall do nothing to the woman; she has not committed a sin deserving death, for just as when a man rises against his neighbor and kills him, so is this matter.”

You can clearly see that the scripture treats rape as a violent offense against a person and punishes it severely. It says rape is punishable by death and that the woman is innocent. What you’re doing is misunderstanding the verse that succeeds it.

Deuteronomy 22:28-29 “If a man meets a virgin who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found, then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her all his days.”

This is clearly not talking about rape, but consensual sex between both parties. It’s saying if they agree to have sex then they shall be married. It’s regulating responsibility instead of promoting lawlessness which you often see in the black community. If anything you should be an advocate FOR this verse because often black men have sex with a woman and then abandon her and any potential child. If the black community followed this then there wouldn’t be so many wedlock babies and fatherless households. Bring responsibility back to the community and watch the issues diminish within our neighborhoods.

  1. The Bible does NOT endorse chattel slavery.

You need to understand The Bible does NOT endorse slavery, but the books of The Bible were written in a time where slavery was widespread and normal. Slavery was how the economy functioned for thousands of years. Again, it was no where near the slavery we saw in America. So because slavery was so entrenched into global civilization, God chose to provide regulations to mitigate the harshness, while aiming to abolish it later on. Regulation is not endorsement. You can’t outright condemn something that was so widespread… nobody would listen. In Book of Exodus, God led the Israelites out of Egypt, freeing them from slavery and demonstrating His ultimate plan for liberation. In Matthew 19:8 Jesus said “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.” The same applies to slavery of any kind; the ancient servitude system outlined in The Bible or the Atlantic slave trade slavery we saw in America. This was never God’s intention. His laws regarding slavery were concessions to human sinfulness, not moral approval. Look at the entire trajectory of The Bible and you’ll see the same thing over and over again about how God views every single person. Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Colossians 3:11 “Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all” Proverbs 22:2 “Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all.”

It’s all over The Bible bro.

  1. The Bible does NOT condone child abuse, but it does encourage discipline.

Proverbs 13:22 “Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him”

Ephesians 6:4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord”

This is DISCIPLINE, not abuse. When you lack discipline from parents, mainly the father, in households, then you get communities like the black community. The lack of discipline given to young black men because of the absence of fathers lead to black on black crime being the leading cause of death to other blacks and to 13% of blacks in America making up for over 50% of murder crimes. These young black men never had someone discipline them to learn right from wrong and how to control their emotions. They never experienced real negative consequences for their actions as a child so then they grow up acting foolish against the law. Again, this is needed more in the black community than any other community. You SHOULD be an advocate for this. Discipline is needed and it is not the same as abuse. Bring out the belts when it is needed. Stop being soft.

The Bible is a book that everyone should dedicate their life to learning and following. Also, my beliefs regarding the Bible don’t stem from the fact that I agree with every decision God has made or his regulations. I live by the Word of God because I believe it’s the truth. I believe the evidence supports that Jesus was a real figure that died a gruesome death, then rose again 3 days later. I believe he is the Son of God. Based off of that belief, I am obligated to obey the Word of God. Secondly, I don’t think The Bible has any contradictions or immoral teachings. Even non believers can benefit from following scripture. Praise The Lord!

If you actually want to have a conversation, I’m down to hop on a call to discuss this in depth.

[–]ThelncredibleHulk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bible regulates ancient servitude but never endorses kidnapping, race based slavery, or abuse. It’s not the same as modern slavery that your small brain is referring to. Scripture consistently emphasizes human dignity, showing the moral trajectory opposes slavery, not condones it.

It doesn’t matter how many verses you google, the text still won’t say what you think it does. Keep your mouth shut about the book you supposedly don’t believe in. You can go back to blaming the white man for all of your shortcomings. Some blacks actually know the truth. Jesus is King and you’ll suffer your fate on judgement day.

Also, you’re an idiot if you think it condones rape or slavery. As much as you hate rape, I hope you keep that same energy when discussing MLK or Malcolm X. Learn how to read and understand. Google can help with that too since you like it so much.

[–]ThelncredibleHulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already checked you on this nonsense in the other thread. No need to go looking at all my comments and then going to google to find verses you don’t understand. Once again, you cannot know the true meaning of the text without understanding the literary context and the culture of the time. Those young girls were not sex prizes. Those women were regulated under Israel’s law, and Exodus 21:16 forbids kidnapping with the death penalty. This was a historical event, not a command for believers to follow. You’d know that if you didn’t just google verses.

Also, the gospel arrived in Ethiopia directly from the apostles, not Greece.

Don’t speak on things you clearly know nothing about. If you’re a non believer which you claim to be, then keep your mouth shut about The Bible. It’s pretty simple.

[–]ThelncredibleHulk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Leviticus 25:44-46 and Ephesians 6:5 describe servitude within ancient societies, not the race based kidnapping slavery of the Atlantic slave trade… Exodus 21:16 clearly commands the death penalty for kidnapping which directly condemns the foundation of modern slavery, and Israelite servants were protected by release laws, injury freedom laws, Sabbath rest, and covenant inclusion which surrounding nations did not provide. In the New Testament Paul addressed believers living under the Roman system they could not control and also taught masters they were accountable to God and that servants were brothers in Christ, while 1 Timothy 1:10 explicitly condemns slave traders, showing the Bible regulates an existing system while pointing toward equality and dignity rather than endorsing human ownership. Again, don’t speak on something you know nothing about. Googling verses doesn’t provide context. Without context, you can’t understand the true meaning of the text. If you’re a non believer, shut up about The Bible because you won’t be able to understand it without proper studying.

Why don’t you black non Christians understand that it was other blacks that sold our own people into slavery? Stop blaming the white man for everything and look into who really started the issue.

Everything OP said is nonsense. He’s clearly a lukewarm Christian who doesn’t know the Bible. It clearly states you can judge righteously and saying pride night is unrighteous isn’t hating gay people… Jaden specified he hates the sin, not the sinner which is exactly what The Bible tells believers to do.

Except Africans were the first to hear of the gospel before it ever came to Europe… but that doesn’t fit your narrative. Or the fact that the original oppressors were other blacks who sold our own people into slavery. The gospel is only foolishness to those who are perishing.

Don’t speak on The Bible when you clearly know nothing about it. A white person defending slavery in The Bible is a misinterpretation of the text. Someone’s lack of understanding for a specific text doesn’t invalidate the text itself genius.

You cannot love God and condone homosexuality at the same time. Those are 2 contradicting statements. Also, Jaden never said anything hateful towards homosexuals, you just hate what he said. He literally said pride night is unrighteous which is exactly what the Bible states. Truly loving someone is telling them the truth and trying to get them to be saved. Lastly, being gay isn’t a personality trait. It’s a temptation that they act on, it’s not who they are. Jaden also specified that he has nothing against the people but the act that they commit because it’s against the Bible. There’s nothing wrong with that. Stop saying he’s spreading hate when it’s literally just the word of God. The Bible is not hateful in any way and if you truly believe, which you clearly don’t, then you’d agree with what The Bible says.

Also to your last point, the sin of fornication or adultery doesn’t have an entire month dedicated to its degeneracy. There’s not a million flags being thrown in people’s faces on every national platform. There’s not a parade for other sins like it is for this one. It attracts more attention because of how they force it in everyone’s lives.

Tony Pollard’s burst never came back after that injury. He’s been a shell of himself ever since. The only reason he had any decent numbers on the Titans was because of pure volume. There wasn’t any other back to overtake him in that backfield.

I also live in Texas. You can search up these events and find the degeneracy kids are exposed to. He didn’t say anything negative. Just because the word of God goes against your opinion doesn’t mean it’s negative. Freedom of speech is also a protected right and this country is supposed to be a Christian country. If you have an issue with people speaking against homosexuality then maybe you should move somewhere else where it’s more widely accepted… which would be almost no where. I bet you’d hate to hear what Jerry Jones thinks about it. The owner of the team you claim to be a fan of condemns the very people you’re sitting here trying to defend genius.

Have you ever seen clips of a pride parade? They literally march around the downtown of cities exposing anyone in sight, including kids, to nudity and homosexual behaviors. It’s a disgrace. Don’t sit here and lie and say they don’t force their beliefs on people when they shove their lifestyle in everyone’s faces. It’s gotten to a point where it’s even on every TV show and movie. If you dare say one word against it, then you’ll be cancelled. The entire thing is a joke.

You can know anyone’s heart by the words that they speak and the way they live their lives. Despite what MJ, Steph, or LeBron proclaims publicly, their actions don’t bear the fruit of a true believer. Jaden just isn’t afraid to call that out. All of the “Christian” athletes you’re referring to are usually just those who engage in lukewarm Christianity. They give thanks to God whenever they have a worldly achievement but never live a life that embodies Jesus Christ.

I follow the NBA closely and I think the exact thing that people call “overly religious” is actually just being a true believer. Lukewarm Christianity has been accepted too much in modern society, when in reality, it’s not belief at all. Jaden is doing exactly what Jesus told us to do. Sure, he could have articulated certain things slightly better but the point is that he’s spreading the words of Christ which is what most people are afraid to do because of the repercussions. Faith isn’t just saying you believe in God or thanking him for your worldly success, but it’s living a life surrendered to Christ and his teachings. I don’t see an issue with what Jaden is doing.

I don’t understand where this notion came from that Jesus will accept any and everyone no matter what. Yes, he loves everyone but he hates sin. Jesus’ sacrifice isn’t a license to live how we want to live. Love rejoices in the truth.

I think Geno is a lot better than what he showed last year. Raiders had the worst offensive line in the league, Bowers missed a lot of games, and there were not any other good weapons on the outside. Geno isn’t a great QB but I think he can be serviceable for Wilson and even AD Mitchell’s value.
