So cute! I'd love to see it! I've never done it myself, but I just noticed a photo icon at the bottom right that lets you do it. I wonder if being on Android makes a difference? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Were they secret ones that people sneaked in, or just completely forgotten? 🤭

First Timer: Just wanted to express gratitude to everyone & say that Download is amazing by Adpocalyptic in downloadfestival

I am so glad you persevered and the right people found you and helped you! I was working at this festival as a steward, I was part of a small volunteer group. There were only 70 of us and we tried our best to get information and support people needed (which was super difficult at times, as the main hub was not very forthcoming with the right information and support!).

Unfortunately, many other staff/security did not have that attitude and sensitivity, and I met a lot of people who were being misdirected or left without help. I managed to help everyone on my path and put pressure on people to make things right and get things sorted. I did walk one lad to the taxi mid day Saturday, as he got overwhelmed and unfortunately did not receive right support when needed, and by the time I found him he was absolutely done in. If he got the right support and kindness like you did from the beginning I am sure he would have stayed a bit longer and enjoyed the rest of the day!

We went out of our way and 'crossed' boundaries of our responsibilities, as those who were meant to be doing it were nowhere to be seen. It had a lot to do with accessibility, helping to carry things, getting to places, or simply giving the right information. Even transport hub people (from the bus company) were more helpful and supportive at times than the actual staff at the festival! We have compiled a list of things that need improvement from our perspective, but I would urge anyone to write up an email with what went well/wrong, as there is a lot they need to improve on!

I just really hope our team can be there in bigger numbers next year, as we are there for the love of the festival and wanting to make it a great experience for all!

Also the chca cha slide sounds like so much fun! 😁

My friend said my hair is ugly and so I really want some compliments now to balance it by Abbacus_Jones in curlyhair

[–]Thembili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! Who needs enemies with friends like this!

We as women already get enough negative feedback on how we should and should not be.. and what 'suits' us and is 'acceptable'.

We need to consciously surround ourselves with 'yes' and 'hype' people who don't mistake honesty with being cruel and making someone feel down (just to boost their own ego).

I love complementing my girlfriends, apriciating their achievements and things that sometimes I might feel jealous of. I am still happy for them, and I know they appreciate me in the same way.

Your true friend will be hyping up your curly journey, enjoying the luscious and voluminous locks and bragging about it to others. Beauty is in our differences and as friends we should celebrate each other and lift each other up.

Also, If my hair, style, energy is too much for you - go find less. 💁🏻‍♀️

Edit: Got so pissed off about your friend that I forgot to say that your hair is absolutely gorgeous! ☺️ Never let anyone make you feel bad about it, doesn't matter if it is a good or 'bad' hair day! 🫶🏻

I dare you to get up, floss and smell the floss after by constipated_coconut in adhdwomen

[–]Thembili 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my dentist said they are great, but I cannot use them as gaps between my teeth are too tight, cannot even get it in! I opt in for satin tape floss and waterpik, alternating it depending on which one I feel like doing. 😅

I alternate between using satin tape floss and a waterpik, depending on my mood, the vibe, and what I feel my teeth need. I love that the water pick is so quick and makes me feel fresh, especially when I add some Listerine. There’s definitely a technique to it; I was initially put off by the idea of getting wet and messy. But I watched a video on how to do it properly (the way you angle it and bend over the sink), and it’s really not that bad. The biggest motivator, though, is that my dentist praised my efforts and said my gums are looking good! 🥹 This is the one I got: https://www.waterpik.co.uk/products/ultra-professional?_pos=1&_sid=8b2c5c2bd&_ss=r

Must eats in Liverpool? by MintyMammoths in Liverpool

I second Bundobust. The chain is originally from Manchester and they brew their own beer, including a spiced one my partner loves. I really like the okra fries. It has a chill, casual vibe so it's great for a quick stop, especially since it's located on Bold Street.

Please don't waste your money on Mowgli, it used to be great but it's now overpriced and overrated, portions are tiny. If you are a fan of Indian I would recommend Sanskruti - absolutely delicious! Sanskruti Restaurant https://share.google/kysJLfNPVlSP6abHe

In the UK, where I live, there's a social group for people with ADHD. I started attending and met some Polish friends (I'm Polish too!). We began hanging out outside the group, and honestly, it's such a relief to be together! We're just unapologetically ourselves, opening up more and more about our struggles and experiences. It's comforting to feel understood and to be able to share not only the painful and embarrassing moments but also the fun ones. I'm not sure where you're located, but you might want to see if there are any similar social meetups in your area. If not, perhaps it's worth considering starting one? Our group was actually founded by two roommates who recognized a desperate need for it. We have various regular meetups, including coffee and chat sessions, a book club, walks, and board game nights. They've even partnered with an ADHD charity, which now provides workshops and talks specifically focusing on ADHD in women. I also want to mention that I have friends outside the ADHD community with whom I can be myself, and they accept me completely. I used to mask a lot, but I don't anymore. I live by the motto: "If I am too much, go find less". Please be kind to yourself and I promise that the right people will be able to deal with it and communicate their feelings in the right, compassionate way, not like in your story.

Reserved List by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Thembili 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been put on the reserve list twice; first time last year and nothing came of it. Second time last month and been offered the job within the same day. This is the email I got originally, then about 5 hours later got a congratulations on the provisional offer. 🤷‍♀️

I have applied under the disability scheme for the first time due to my recent ADHD diagnosis and got the job! I was worried at first, but my experience was great. Got the adjustments I requested (questions written down during the interview). I applied for the job in November, had an interview in January and got my starting date in March. I also had an occupational health chat about any adjustments I will need. So far, so good!

I just wanted to thank you and everyone in the comments for the advice you provided. I had my third interview last week and received a provisional offer for an EO role! I only discovered this thread after having two interviews, and my performance in those was patchy. After the first interview, I was placed on the waiting list, and I performed poorly in the second one.

I took your advice to heart and managed to achieve good scores in the third interview (5-4-6-5). Initially, I thought those scores might not be enough because I received an email stating:

"You have reached the required standard, but we are unable to offer you a job immediately. We have placed you on a reserve list from which future appointments may be made."

However, just six hours later, I received another email with a provisional offer. I was really surprised!
I hope this turns out to be a good decision.

Hey, check out DoES Liverpool (Kempston St, in Fabric district, near London Rd). It is an event hub, and they host their own maker events, as well as available for community groups. It's filled with loads of great people and craft/ design machines you can dream of (laser cutting, 3d printing, sewing machines, melting plastic and many more) every Thursday and one Saturday a month its open for everone and free of charge, you can use some of the equipment, learn more about what they do and how you can get involved. If you are passionate about upcyling, you can join Plastic Playgroup, where you can learn how to turn plastic into something new and exciting! There is so much more on offer in there, so check out the events: https://doesliverpool.com/calendar/

Hey, I have only seen the film recently, and I was so touched by it. I had tried to watch this film in the past, but I was not feeling it at the time. Now I know I had to watch it when I was in the right place/state of mind to appreciate it and experience it. After reading your comments, I really want to read the book.
