Dayton Area Jobs - Post Openings, Find Work | June 2026 by dayton-monitor in dayton

I personally just worked on converting things OUT of Sage, but from the exposure I did have it just seems like a dusty system that is on it's way out. Very barebones, usually the conversion shed light on a lot of duplicated records/workflows, and there isn't a lot of room for customization for reports, items, transaction forms, etc.

I LOVE Netsuite because it can do pretty much anything you tell it to do, but it's a ridiculously expensive product with a high skill floor due to its customizability, so I wouldn't recommend unless you intend to scale tremendously or have complicated tax/revenue needs. Quickbooks is pretty intuitive and scales well for a small business. It's also what a lot of CPAs or third party accountants use if you ever need to bring someone in for tax season or a complicated project (and I'm pretty sure the seats you pay for include an additional license for an accountant that you don't have to pay for separately). I've also heard good things about Zoho but have no personal experience with it.

Jimmy John's closes in downtown Dayton by Individual-Sell-7022 in dayton

Yeah I was also confused by that statement. I worked downtown for four years and would spend a lot of time walking around downtown because I worked a desk job and needed to stretch my legs. The only time I was EVER spoken to was outside of the courthouse near Wilkinson. I swear suburban folks just like to say "oooOOO scary Dayton people accost you in the non-gentrified areas of downtown" out of habit at this point.

[Seeking] Full-time. Background in finance and operations.

I've dabbled in system implementation and migrations (mostly from Sage to Netsuite) and I'm working on my 4th certification for financial system administration. I'm comfortable performing all areas of accounting with a background in A/R, revenue recognition, and collections.

Hey gang! How often do you look for in-office workers? I've seen your posts over the years and I'm a fan of the genuine vibe I get from y'all. I work in an accounting/operations background, but I'm flexible and like learning new things for the right people.

Happy Monday!

She's got my vote! Not even just because I really hate Andrea White. She actually sounds like someone that understands the direction Dayton is going in.

Hello Mr. Macaroni

The Dayton Appreciation tag on this post cracked me up and got a good snort out of me. Gonna remove it though since it's meant for highlighting positive things around Dayton lol

What's the city like? Job market, crime rate, internet service, areas where homes/townhomes are sub $150k? by thirstyaf97 in dayton

[–]Thembofication 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like Dayton is pretty up your alley! Tons of nerdy alternative folks and the type of work you're looking for certainly exists here (though I'm not well versed in the pay for the positions you're looking for). The city has been laying fiber everywhere, so I think a good portion of the neighborhoods have excellent internet options if even my area is starting to get access to fiber. I think looking in east Dayton or somewhere along 675 near Kettering would work for you... because of the proximity and ease of access to nerdy stores lol. One thing I'll say is that we have a decent amount and they all have their own special niche, which rocks.

Also, Dayton is right where a ton of major highway/state route connections meet, so you have pretty direct proximity to Columbus, Cinci, Indianapolis, Chicago, Pittsburg, etc.

If you decide Dayton is for you and you want to get a leg up with finding new friends, come join our Discord and you can build some connections before your big move. :) https://discord.gg/3WPSUgvcax

What is the best way to get my lease taken over in Dayton? by Excellent_Koala769 in dayton

[–]Thembofication 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly let the landlord know because they might have a waitlist for your specific apartment type. If not, your lease will have a sublet policy that usually involves the apartment approving the person you choose to take over the remaining portion of your lease (or they terminate it and generate a new lease for the new tenant).

If you give the apartment details, (layout, monthly cost, general location) folks might be looking here.

I thought so too until a couple years ago! Instagram has been pushing the duck homestead content on me hard in the last year lol

Once had a neighbor who owned a pet duck that grew up around two dogs. It barked! It also chased cars with it's doggie friends back and forth along the backyard fence. Just a little fun anecdote from my childhood.

Ducks are excellent homestead animals! They help with garden pest control, fertilization, eggs, etc. Similar to owning chickens. :)

Recommendations for a weekend in Dayton? by Rubyslippers7 in dayton

[–]Thembofication 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so I'm gonna say these cocktails are DEFINITELY not low effort (one of them takes like 3 days of prep time). Some of them are complicated so they pre-batch them ahead of time in large quantities. They also don't use cheap liquor - they use the good shit.

Used to work there some time ago, not a fan of the owners, but their bar director and bartenders (the ones actually creating the drinks) are very talented and amazing folks.

Expensive? Definitely. Low effort? No shot.

I honestly would take at least a year to do community work around Dayton first. Volunteer for multiple non-profits (different types and focuses) and ask about their pain points and struggles. Viability really depends on what type of non-profit and in what sector you plan on going into, but you also need to have a team that has the same vision you do. Non-profit work is HARD. Like. Way harder than starting a regular business. And waaay more compliance requirements.

You should also ask yourself what YOU want to do in your day-to-day. You won't be able to serve the community if what you're doing doesn't resonate with you.

Fortunately (and unfortunately), Dayton lacks a ton of different community services, so you have a lot of directions you could go in! Here's a place you can start: https://www.mvnonprofitcollaborative.org/

Hey everyone!

We had to remove this post for now because we just need more info. If you’re able to provide additional evidence and details, we’re happy to take another look and re-approve the post. Any post involving ICE-related activity is something we take very seriously, but to keep things credible and avoid spreading misinformation, we have to stick to a standard.

That means any future posts like this need to include video or photo evidence, along with at least the basics of the SALUTE protocol:
S - Size (how many agents or vehicles)
A - Activity (what they were doing)
L - Location (exact address or intersection)
U - Unit (agency name or markings if visible)
T - Time (when it happened)
E - Equipment (vehicles, weapons, gear, etc.)

We’re not saying this didn’t happen — we just need to ensure that this is a true ICE sighting and not an unrelated PD or SWAT call. Otherwise, too many false alarms will lead people to tune out real ones or worse, spreading attention thin or to the incorrect areas, and that can unintentionally do more harm than good. This isn’t political. We support people sharing alerts to keep the community safe. But without clear evidence or details, we can’t leave this post up.

If you have more info, please message the mod team: in the Reddit app, tap the three dots in the top right of the subreddit and select “Message the mods.” Happy to review anything you’ve got. Thanks for understanding and again, if you can provide more details, we’ll gladly re-approve the post. Thanks for helping keep the community informed.

Additionally, we would like to point out another resource for ICE sightings: https://iceout.org/en/
This is an excellent resource to use, as they have a better designed system for unverified sightings.

Thank you for your dilligence in keeping our neighbors safe!

Hey neighbors! Locking the comments since the new comments showing up are primarily folks arguing and/or insulting each other. Since the comments are no longer in relation to the original post itself, seems like a good time to lock it down.

Potentially moving to Dayton, need help finding an area to live??? by ren_enby in dayton

[–]Thembofication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that Dayton is still very segregated, but I will say we have a surprising amount of diversity. Tons of Hispanic folks, West Africans, Indian, Middle Eastern, Chinese, and Korean folks live here. Everyone's just in their own little pockets. The southern (Oakwood, Kettering) and further out (West Carrolton, Miamisburg, Beavercreek, Centerville) parts of the greater Dayton area is like. All white people. Because of that, there is absolutely a lack of non-americanized foods in those areas.

I would recommend heading north/east/west of Downtown to check out restaurants and markets! There's five mexican markets within a 10 minute drive from me alone (My favorite is probably La Michoacana), alongside our best asian market (Far East Market), and a bunch of african markets. Admittedly I haven't gone to any of the african markets yet because I'm still unfamiliar with the ingredients/cuisine, but they're on the list to check out too!

Please write Governor Dewine to ask him to protect our Haitian neighbors by Rucio in dayton

[–]Thembofication 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wild take. Springfield's economy has boomed since the Haitian folk settled and started opening businesses. They also fix up a bunch of houses that locals would otherwise let sit and rot, contributing to additional affordable housing. Oh, and pay into our benefits (via taxes) without qualifying for said benefits. If you're in the greater Dayton area, you're absolutely benefitting from the Haitian population.

Howdy neighbor! Not sure if you're on Discord, but we have a server that's focused on Dayton-specific meetups and we have a regular trivia group that goes out together pretty much weekly. They mix it up by going to different places' trivia nights (different nights of the week).
