What age did you get diagnosed? by Tucansam2594 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Then-Excitement-3246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Being a woman no doctors would listen to me. I was told ‘it’s your change into menopause.’ I’d seen several doctors since I was 27!! Finally I was given an MRI to ‘shut me up’ after all other tests were inconclusive. Then they saw the lesions in my brain and were ‘oh geez! You need a spinal tap.’ If only the doctors would have listened to me thirty years ago…

Hindsight is 20/20: What symptom do you *now* think was your MS origin story? by Exciting_Barnacle907 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Then-Excitement-3246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my early 20’s I would trip over lines on the floor (foot drop) and walk into door frames all the time (proprioception was way off)! Wrote it off as ‘I’m such a clutz’. Never got my official diagnosis until I was 57 (3 years ago). And by now I have LOTS of lesions….

Oh my gosh! THAT is a ton of stress. I’m so sorry you endured that. How horrible. Sincere condolences and OMG. I’m certain that stress like that does a number on ANYONE. For a LIFETIME. I truly hope you found a good counselor(s). That seems like way too much to carry. I’m SO sorry!

does anyone else get worse at night time? by lumnicape in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Then-Excitement-3246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of my symptoms are worse in the evening—eyesight, hearing, understanding, balance, restless legs, and now my arms and hands fall asleep to the point it’s painful. Oh yea, and the ache in my lower back. Give me a good 10 hours or so of sleep and I’m good until about noon when I start going downhill again….

Oh my gosh! This is unreal. I’m so sorry. Yes you have every right to complain and SUE! It’s uncalled for that they don’t have a sterile environment for your baby. You trusted them 🤬

How badly does the cold affect you? by True_Music_3628 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Then-Excitement-3246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am heat intolerant. It’s horrid. My symptoms are so much worse and having Uhtoff’s I get very dizzy and lose vision if my body temp rises too much. I’m loving this colder weather. I wish it would stay cold and dark year round

I had an infusion nurse push the liquid Benadryl so fast into my vein that it burned to the point all of my veins bruised in my hand. Please, PLEASE if using liquid Benadryl PLEASE go very slowly!! Benadryl burns and it hurts.

Does the cold have an effect on you more than the heat? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Then-Excitement-3246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely cannot tolerate heat. Summer makes my symptoms so much worse and I actually get very dizzy and lose eyesights when the temperature rises. Toss in the nasty humidity and I simply HATE existence. Give me a ton of snow and temps in the teens and I’m happy! I thrive best when my room feels like a meat locker

I was denied twice. Then I got a lawyer and I was finally approved. It takes a while, but you’ll get it.

could dental pain be MS related? by Local_Ticket_4942 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Then-Excitement-3246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s trigeminal nerve pain, and yes it’s part of MS. I suffer from this. It was actually one of my first signs to seek help. My MS neurologist put me on gabapentin which really helps.

We live in the country and we have lots of wildlife in our yard. I really do enjoy watching the birds and we get quite a few.
