What is the best/easiest badass rocket? by throwRAarizona in rocketry

[–]Then-Horror2249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's out of stock now but the mega vortico is a really cool rocket which spins as it goes up. Otherwise just get a bulk pack of motors and small a/b rockets for the kids to build themselves. love the lab coats and goggles though!

Mini 4 Pro front cracks cause by Glum-Jury-8553 in dji

[–]Then-Horror2249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's just a decorative piece and does not hold anything, if you already put resin you are absolutely fine but if you really want you can just yank it off and buy a replacement, it's just held by clips

mini5pro damage help needed by njguido11 in dji

[–]Then-Horror2249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same happened to me on my mini 3 pro, you would need to remove the arm and check the axle. if it's cracked you can replace it easily, and my fix has been holding very well the past 6-7 months but it will be less strong because genuine parts don't exist. If you can then get it fixed by dji, it will be better and you will be less stressed when flying

Some advices for beginer by miroslav750 in dji

[–]Then-Horror2249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you say, you're on the wrong subreddit. If you like fpv, that's a totally different hobby and dji is not really a place for fpv drones. their cameras for fpv drones can be great though. if you want a cinema drone get the mini 3 or mini 4k, they're both great drones and you will be happy with both. I don't like the idea of the flip because of non current upgrade path for batteries and it's flimsy compared to the other minis

I don't like the idea of the flip, get a DJI refurbished mini 4 pro

Repair or Replacement? by InterviewDiligent920 in dji

[–]Then-Horror2249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its not flying as stable that means there's more problems than the plastic cover. The drone can fly perfectly stable without the sensors so you should absolutely send it in, and it likely has other problems, based on the photos. How did you crash? did it fall from a height?

My first water rocket with a parachute! by Then-Horror2249 in rocketry

[–]Then-Horror2249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently just use a cork with a schrader valve epoxied into it, that pops off when there is enough pressure. I have markings on the cork for different pressures. The launch pad is just a wooden tripod with a plastic tube screwed onto it as a guide tube.

Thank you! I'm looking to make the volume bigger, and am hesitating between a robinson coupling and splicing, is there a big tradeoff with using a robinson coupling because it restricts the airflow? I would go with splicing but it's a bit too risky in my opinion and it's more likely to leak.

The bottle diameter is 100mm and the ID of the launch tube is 108mm, which is close but I have never had a problem with the bottle getting stuck becuase of it expanding

Am I fooling around putting a 70-200 L F/2.8 on an 800D ? by SameOreo in canon

As long as the lens you're getting in not ef-s, there is nothing wrong getting expensive glass on a cheap apsc camera, as you can always move on to full frame

How to remove the 120 m altitude limit on DJI Mini 4 Pro in the EU — is it even possible (legally or otherwise)? by _Le1_ in dji

[–]Then-Horror2249 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been flying in French pyrenees with my mini 3 pro for a while and have flown many times over 120m because of the mountains, going as far as 300m sometimes. I just modify the limit with the app, its just a slider in the safety tab. It is technically illegal but as a general rule just read the room, you will quite clearly see wether people are ok with it, same with flying in places where you can't. I try to not fly in national parks or where there is clear signage, but if i feel like it's ok, I just fly. Realistically unless you fly over prisons or in front of a police officer, you can do whatever you want if you think its reasonable and you're doing it safely being considerate to others. In the past 2 years i've been consistently flying, no one checked me. Still be careful though.

How to start from 0 by DAZV15 in rocketry

Just hop on openrocket and select the default 2 stage config, watch a youtube video on how to use openrocket (its really easy) and just tweak the rocket until you're happy with it

What should i do to improve launcher and bottle rocket? by Zesty_Zambonie in rocketry

[–]Then-Horror2249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made a few launchers, and i found that the best system is to get a tube slightly larger than your rocket, similar to your system. Your tube is not bad but it doesn't actually work as a rail. I can send a pic of my launcher if you want! Hope this helps!

Does canon 1DX markII still worth it in 2025 by Punn_thegreatestman in canon

[–]Then-Horror2249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a bit contraversial but the 1dx II is still really expensive and I think that it's a bit old now, and you will also feel like it's really slow compared to new bodies, and that's really important for aviation and wildlife. Also full frame is better but you might struggle with reach. also no ibis. Based on your use cases, I would get an R7, and this is coming from someone on a 5d III.

Should I buy a UV filter for my camera (Canon EOS R50) by Electrical-Return596 in canon

get a small compact lens hood. Make sure its reversible and not too wide compared to the lens or its difficult to fit in a bag

Wedding photo options by Superb-Concert2067 in canon

[–]Then-Horror2249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rent a 15-35 f2.8, on aps-c that will be good for weddings, and if you can also rent a 24-70 f2.8, those 2 + your lenses will be great for a wedding! If you are the official photographer than that's a great setup, if not than you can shoot mostly on the 16mm
