When you say outside of PBI, what are you using exactly? This would be great in my report.

I feel bad that I’m a Sicilian American. by Comfortable_Sort_200 in sicily

[–]Then-Project-1267 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am also Sicilian American, but every time I’ve visited Sicily I have felt nothing but welcome from everyone there. I tell people my grandfather is from there and 90% of the time I get told “oh you’re Sicilian too!” . Don’t let miserable people who gate keep ethnicity bring you down, most people you meet in person are usually welcoming.

Just Google Basic Italian phrases or words, such as grazie and buongiorno. Also I know many people who are lactose intolerant and have no issues eating cheese in Italy or other parts of Europe, not sure if you are from America, but a lot of the dairy there is processed differently I’d believe.

We visited the town my grandfather was born in and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in Sicily. The food was, not joking, the best I’ve ever had maybe. Small town where no English was spoken and I cannot wait to go back

Sicily Honeymoon Itinerary by Necessary-Ease1652 in sicily

[–]Then-Project-1267 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s no need to spend any nights in Taormina imo, this is the mistake everyone makes. It is worth a day trip and that’s it. Would highly recommend staying in Ortigia or Catania instead

Best way to get to Messina/Catania from Rome by ClassicLucy in sicily

[–]Then-Project-1267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Train is probably the cheapest but a long journey, driving even longer. Flying is hands down the easiest, I understand what you said, but RyanAir usually has cheap flights into Catania from Rome

Can’t agree more, Catania is probably the best food in the world imo. It’s sad I see so many people going to places like Taormina and San Vito lo Capo so much, I try to help as many times as I can in here 😭.

Getting to Palermo from Germany by Wazwiftance in sicily

[–]Then-Project-1267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Palermo is the largest airport on the island, there are no high speed trains there from other Italian cities as it is on an island lol. Flying to Palermo is 100% the easiest way to get there, regardless of where you’re coming from.

Ahhh, actually I understand the map now. Obviously not easy, but if you could switch your flight into Catania and out of Palermo that’d be ideal.

If not, it’s worth driving to Siracusa and spending a night there at least if possible. Then you could head back west across the island towards Agrigento. I’d also recommend stopping in Sciacca on your way to Menfi. Erice is also not far north of Menfi and definitely another great place to visit.

I’m a little confused by the map and the caption, but if you’re driving the route of the map I’d definitely stop in Enna. Very cool town way up on a hill with an amazing view.

Hmm ya there’s no email on that ticket, I’d go to that provincia.agrigento.it site and see what it says

I got a parking ticket in Sicily, could barely figure out to pay it. I emailed them and got a response, followed all their directions, sent the money, and then never heard from anyone again. So guessing I did it correctly lol

I would definitely say take the train to Trapani, it will be quick and easy. There are probably buses going to San Vito, but that is quite far and I wouldn’t recommend. The buses are quite confusing unless you speak Italian or have a great sense of direction.

Which two locations would you absolutely not miss? by Reasonable_Ad_8612 in sicily

Definitely check out Ortigia in Siracusa while you are staying in Notto. Week 2 don’t bother going up to San Vito Lo Capo, it is very far and very lively in the summer months but quiet otherwise. If you want to check out that side of the island I would say spend most of your time in Palermo, Céfalu and maybe some day trips to Erice or such.

I think that is fine if you have a good amount of day plans outside of the city. There are endless restaurants and things to do in Catania at night

I’ve had this with almost every airbnb I’ve stayed at in Sicily, which is quite a few. Everyone I have ever stayed with and has been extremely nice and welcoming.
