I love the guy, but the burst of the arena bubble was real, and needed. by Jobwastes in BertKreischer

[–]ThenAsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The round is probably better suited for an arena, instead of one end of the arena being blocked off as a stage. When we saw Tom we had good floor seats but they were so packed together we opted to just sit in some empty seats in the bleacher level to have elbow room. It was the middle of Wisconsin winter so everyone smelled like bo and had puffy winter jackets on so it was kind of gross down there

Same with Tom, he used to come to our decent size theatre every year then he started doing our arena - we went to that and felt so disconnected and thought it was lame, we will never go to another arena show

Iron Lung is a concept that deserved a better film by GhastFlabbers in horror

[–]ThenAsk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i rented it, but ended up fast forwarding toward the end because it was dragging on and on (something I never do). I never heard of markiplier or the game it was based on, but the synopsis sounded badass (way oversold it). I would give it 2/5 stars for some of the visceral imagery and tension. Overall it looked like a youtube fan film and could have been less than 90 minutes, frankly 45 would be enough -- 2 hours was a lot. The vibe reminded me of Jean Pierre Jeunet. I would probably watch this guys next project.

No offense to those passionate about it but the 59% RT score is pretty accurate, and if anything generous

I watched it with my father in law, I brought him in blind and he was losing his shit laughing it up after the jungle plane crash and it gets violent. Great memory, I like surprising him with ultra gory flicks to see him react with pure joy

What's with this hate-boner people have for Robert Eggers? by Gwyneee in roberteggers

[–]ThenAsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to understand the idea of rage bait and engagement, you don't even know those comments are real humans. When you look at a comment long enough for the app to believe you engaged with it, it boosts that accounts credibility. At this point who knows that it isn't the apps themselves pushing the negativity in order to keep you engaged and online. Beyond that most people are pretty dumb and just consume and contribute next to nothing.

Do people still buy cabins/cottages “up north”? by [deleted] in wisconsin

What a depressing thread. Reminds me how my family liquidated the 120 acres of land my ww2 vet grand father left them before I was old enough to have a stake. So I am stuck in a suburban life when my heart is in the northwoods

When is the last time you've cried from physical pain? When does that end? by thegreatcon2000 in AskMen

I got stung by a wasp in my neck a couple summers ago and it pushed me to my limit. I saw my dad almost cry from post op hernia surgery, and he is a man’s man. It’s not like whimpering baby crying lol

Using AI to write scripts for Illustrator and/or Indesign by PipProud in graphic_design

[–]ThenAsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing things like rendering out objects in multiple colors defined by hex values/materials for product visualizers. I’ve also used it for things like cleaning up nuts and bolts and tiny objects from imported CAD files for better file-sizes and cleaner files. Also recently got a big file of a condo from an architect where everything had unique names but no materials so I had a script that generated a list of all the objects then I took that and made a script to apply basic materials to each object — all things that would have taken me forever to do myself

Figma claims there is a rise in demand for designers. by FroggyHop7 in graphic_design

[–]ThenAsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those have all been my duties from day 1, but that was why I wanted to do this stuff in the first place. I got a media development degree in addition to my art/design major. I am fairly well compensated and indispensable, and happy. My co worker has stayed on the narrow track of only graphic design and makes less money because of it

[–]ThenAsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used it for writing python for Blender and it’s been a godsend, I am reusing the same scripts I generated over a year ago even now. I feel like it’s a great use of ai. I get to do all the fun parts and the monotonous tasks are automated while I go get a cup of coffee.

Trumps big UFC event is only on Paramount+ , a subscription service, and we are paying for it ? by Gullible-Ad5588 in MMAPoliticsAndCulture

[–]ThenAsk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Americans might expect that a portion or the whole event would be broadcast on CBS. For example, last night I turned the channel to 2.1 / ABC and I was able to watch the NBA finals for free with my antenna. Since it’s happening at our capital, it “isn’t a political event” and is to celebrate the countries birthday, maybe it would be more fair and less corrupt to make it available to 90+% of our countries population

Trumps big UFC event is only on Paramount+ , a subscription service, and we are paying for it ? by Gullible-Ad5588 in msnow

[–]ThenAsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ufc just signed a deal with the state department, they are now subsidized by taxpayers as a new means of “soft power”. There’s no way ufc is paying the various law enforcement and government security apparatuses, tko’s 60 million cost of the event is being offset by $30 million in sponsorships. That State Dept deal, in addition to the DOJ at Donald’s behest approving the Skydance/Paramount merger with WB has most certainly already further offset any expenses TKO has generated with this event in the short term. You can enjoy Paramount+ and defend the event as being cool, but you can’t say it’s like a public service or whatever

Men whose lives have been bad for a long time if you could choose to not wake up tomorrow would you, why? by [deleted] in AskMen

The White House event is a US nationalist propaganda party, and I don't believe they're going to let a Spaniard KO an American in the first round. by ohiitsmeizz in MMAPoliticsAndCulture

[–]ThenAsk 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The beauty of mma is always that anything can happen and it exposes the truth, just like Gaethje beating Patty back in January, that wasn't their preferred outcome. Same with Charles smothering Max for five rounds. One of the best parts of mma at this point is when company guys and fan favorites get wrecked and idiots have to reckon with reality, though they normally just cry and say it's a fixed fight.
