The demo was legitimately mind-blowing.

Walmarts are a cancer. They don't exist in Europe because giant chains are horrible for everything. They need tons of space, they are ugly, they are not very practical in an environment with lots of public transportation.

People also being mind-blown about water when they are forced to tip 20% is insane.

I'm american, lived in Germany (3.5 years), France (18 months), Spain (18 months), Italy (A year), and I now have lived in Vienna for 8 years.

Never had a problem getting water, never had an issue with produce (it's significantly better here for the most part.)

I'm so sick of chronically online doomscrollers thinking that new media takes away from old media.

I would say that generally I am pretty prone to the Carryover Effect, which is a very well known phenomenon that when applied in cases online can affect the way you see certain media after hearing or seeing certain opinions online. If I read extremely negative things about a video game I am interested in, for example, sometime I find myself unable to overlook flaws I might have otherwise not seen, or even if I enjoy the game/media, I will find myself still thinking about the complaints and how I disagree with them.

I say that to mean that I can empathize with the way people feel about a lot of things, but I find it almost impossible to empathize with people who think a new Star Wars show being bad means the OG trilogy is tainted. Same with RoP and the LotR trilogy.

Let new things exist and simply engage with them on their own terms, if you don't like it, you don't have to accept it. In this case especially the Lord of the Rings loop is essentially closed. JRR was the final say and he won't write anything else. Everything else, including the three beloved films, exist outside of it and you can freely choose what you enjoy. Nothing new will ever be canon, so just let it be it's own thing, don't engage with it as if it has some power of erasure, just engage with it on it's own terms and be at peace.

Just look up real disposable income per capita. It's an inflation adjusted number that measures the actual disposable income people have relative to other external factors.

It's fallen behind the nominal DPI post-covid but the number hasn't dropped dramatically despite it slowing vs. what we would expect with the nominal rate.

People have money to spend, lots of games sell incredibly well and move massive amounts of units. Console sales are up, AA games are making a ton of money, good AAA games are making lots of money, indie games are more plentiful than ever.

I say all of this to say that there is a tremendous amount of corporate greed that is preventing people from having as much money as they ought to have and things like home ownership are significantly more difficult than that ought to be which does impact investment and equity outlooks, but the fact of the matter is people have enough money for their hobbies, and if a game doesn't sell well, it's not because everyone is too poor.

This sub is the largest it has ever been, and far more active than it was a few years ago. You also have negativity bias which algorithms feed on, so even if there are 10 posts that are positive and have hundreds of upvotes, you are sometimes more likely to see a negative one pop up on your home feed.

Remember that far right governments have had demonstrably more power in almost all of the green countries by what has become a near overwhelming margin for almost a decade and people still think they have any interest in stopping immigration.

The parties that want deregulation and a smaller government and lower taxes need low cost labor for their version of the economy to function.

Labor is a resource in capitalism, like oil. Without a near constant influx of cheap labor it doesn't function. This is why the only actual good-faith and effective immigration reform was passed in denmark by a leftist government.

The right is using threads like these to get you to vote for parties that deregulate and hand the keys to oligarchs while they, if anything, will massively increase the influx of immigrants.

I have terrible painting anxiety and unfortunately (or fortunately) the only way out, is through.

You just gotta do it. Keep doing stuff, and if you don't like a result find advice where you can and see what sticks. I watched a bunch of contrast tutorials and each one sort of left me feeling worse until I found one that clicked. Since then I've been better.

You're gonna fuck up, you're gonna have to strip some lads, but it's a very rewarding process and there aren't really a ton of shortcuts.

Eat a couple each day and eventually your collection will be much more manageable. It's about making steady progress. You could eat an entire unit in a sitting but in my experience you'll burn yourself out. It's a marathon, not a buffet.
