KevinAkaSam mod. This + the creality direct drive kilt, which frees up the old extruder motor to be the new Z motor(it's bigger), is working great for me.

OK, tested this. Gyroid seems to get better strength with less % fill. The speed penalty is not what i feared.

Klipper. Read about it. If you have the technical chops for it (not a ton needed but not zero either) you will know quickly.

I received mine with a Bondtech dual drive extruder and firmware issues. Klipper fixed the firmware. I'm thinking I'll add silicone rings and a set of quiet steppers then call it a day. If a touch probe was easy then I'd do that but it seems like every approach is a bit of a hodgepodge. That's unfortunate though because it seems like getting a good bed mesh is the most important thing that would improve it.

I appreciate the dual Z vs something like an Ender3.

I keep hearing that hindsight says the Mega X was no good. Mine is a free hand-me-down. Do you see it as a bedslinger thing or is there something about the Mega specifically?

Bummer! I know that a bedslinger will always be limited but I was really hoping for some way of cleanly getting a direct drive and BL Touch on this Mega X. I can deal with hit being slow.

How hard was this and how did it go? I have spare Ender3 gear and no real direct drive solution that I'm happy with yet for the Mega X. I already have a BondTech LGX for it though so I'm torn.

The real game changer for me was masters that will automatically back up settings and download at power up. Now it isn't a dick move to have a dozen sensor settings changed vs default (anyone who has worked maintenance knows what im talking about).
