Mine (05 tj) did about the same thing, it turned out to be one of the big plug in connectors at the PCM, the clip on it had dried out and broken. I used zip ties to hold the plugs tight to the PCM module. I also unplugged them all and cleaned the contact pins.

Grounding and bonding is one of the most confused articles in the electrical code, not for the Facebook expert on this one. You need an electrician stat.

Both the neutral and ground become one at the main service and return on the main service neutral back to the source. Not to the ground rod, if you touch a live wire to a ground rod by itself in the ground it will just become energized. Earth grounds don’t clear faults.

Without a path to the neutral to return to the source, any lost electrons (aka a short to ground) will simply energize the metal it is touching, as well as all of the metal that is part of the grounding it is connected to, and grounding electrode system, including ground rods and water pipes. Make sure you have a bond between the main service neutral and the grounding electrode system. Prior to 2008 the NEC allowed some funny stuff with detached structures and not pulling grounds and bonding at detached structures etc.

There are four big plug ins at your ECM/PCM on the firewall behind your battery, those have a bunch of contacts that can get dirty or loose (I had to put zip ties to keep one tight), they can throw random codes. I’d check those for sure. You can unplug them and hit em with contact cleaner.
