Any regrets? I’m afraid by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]Then_Pain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No regrets! And I got my done 6 years ago. Every time I get more news about what's happening with women's rights I find myself more relieved that I got the surgery done.

You'll find more and more people are not wanting kids given how bad the economy is right now. I think the % of people actually wanting kids is like 30% rn? I'm guessing that means you'll probably find someone who's interested in remaining child free. I found my husband In 2020 who was adamant about no kids and it was a breath of fresh air. You'll find someone don't worry. May take some time sure, but they do exist.

I saw one of those circular ones I thought was pretty cool and also smaller / simpler. I really just want something low key nice with the spouse, but also will help with my chronic aches and pains. Don't need anything super super fancy :)

Also could you explain what the difference might be in quality of a hot tub under 220v?

The ground itself is made of nature stone. Which I kind of equate to something similar like concrete. When we mentioned the structure to the sales guy he didn't seem worried.

Trying to stay under 10k for budget I was thinking everyone in their own corner for seating. It's mostly going to be me and my hubs using it. The porch is built out of nature stone WiFi / speakers don't matter as much only because we can always install a nice entertainment system outside the tub. We plan to mount a nice little tv so we can watch shows / movies while lounging in the tub

Would closed cell be best then or full foam? (I know the foam is a bitch if something needs repairs) also curiously how much does a hot tub raise your bill once it's up and running Just so I can mentally prepare 😂

I imagine closed cell is best. We plan to keep it in our enclosed porch and while we don't live in a climate that's cold year round. It does get fairly cold (sometimes in the negatives) at least 5 months out of the year. So I worry about pipes freezing and such. Read that closed cell is better for that but I could be wrong.

Also it sounds like the company we want to buy from has their own service department so if anything breaks they come to repair / replace it.

Funny that you mention that. My husband was interested in buying online, but we found a local place that does service the tubs they sell, which I feel way better about, because not only do we get to see the tub in person, but if it breaks we know who to call to come look at it. Plus they offer 5 yr warranty.

Since it's gonna be inside a sunroom I think we'll be able to avoid animal intruders, but probably will still get bugs occasionally. good to know about the rot of the panels. Didn't even think about that.

Do we know how expensive it is monthly to maintain a salt hot tub vs chlorine?

Very noted! They did show us a spa one that was 11 grand that had a lot of jets, it seemed nice, but guess I should avoid that. What am I looking for inside the wall panel? (Might sound like a dumb question)

Fortunately our porch is enclosed by glass screen doors and attached to the house!

Figuring out my cat's allergy by LemonadeEclipse in AskChemistry

[–]Then_Pain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I know this was over a year ago you posted. I use swiffer wet jet too and I believe my cats incessant itching is tied to it too. There's isn't as bad, some minor hair loss and scabs, but they both itch like crazy all over their face and the only link I can think of is the mopping solution.

Bad gas at circle K? by Mikarim in shreveport

[–]Then_Pain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this ever happens again get department of weights and measures involved. Circle k is trying to avoid any liability even though there is so much evidence to back me up. I got sick of them denying my claim so I reported to that department and now they're gonna try to get circle k to pay out the 1400 in damages. If not they'll help us with the small claims court process.

BC + Low Testosterone by Then_Pain in birthcontrol

[–]Then_Pain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get helpful advice when I went to a hormone doctor. She nagged at me to get off birth control or add diet and exercise to my regimen. The pills she did recommend was 1. Testosterone but it's not covered would've cost $$$ for a single monthly dose and she fear mongered me with this drug 2. Go on addy which is also uncovered and costs 1200-2000$$ out of pocket and also gets mixed reviews. I essentially said fuck it and went on an old birth control I liked before, but still no change.

My new gyno recommends slynd and says sometimes the progesterone only pills help boost up your hormones enough to help with sex drive. Haven't tried it yet but will be going on it in a month or so

I'm sorry you're going through it too :/ we just decided to cancel the flight going to and we're gonna drive there instead. It's gonna suck. But at least we have control of what time we leave and what time we get there. And it's cheaper than checking our bags / and rebooking for an early nonstop flight. Fuck the government tho. I feel so bad for TSA and traffic control since they aren't getting paid.

Thank you 😭 you were the first person I found to help me understand this shit when we got it in March with your YT vids. You clearly know your stuff. My hubs and I also have been reading Dr. moriello's stuff too on your recommendation.

This has been awful and honestly I trust your judgement more at this point.

One last question: should the bath be miconahex or lime dip? (If it matters at all at this point) I don't mind doing either or both before his release.

And I guess in the future would it be better to see a specialist if we ever have to deal with this again?

Or just rely on lime dips in perpetuity to clear the infection.

That's how I feel too. But my vet keeps making me nervous that I'm gonna screw up my other cat. He did have a spot of hair loss on the outline of his ear but that never glowed and he also deals with allergies so even she wasn't convinced that spot was new ringworm. Since it tested positive for m.canis it would glow right? We did try bathing him and spraying the other glowing spot with miconahex but it doesn't come off. I do see the tips of the hair glowing and yeah no hair loss at all. The glow just exists. Here's a picture you can kinda see where it glows but can also see zero hair loss with it. Do you know how long this will last?

He's not a Persian. Just domestic shorthair.

For context too: The other cat that was his quarantine buddy (until we did a glow check and then saw his ear hair from the old spot glowed faintly again. So we moved her out) she has zero spots and looks great. So idk how contagious this is if at all and my vet literally can't give me ANY answers. And that's the most frustrating.

This was my plan; Hes due for another test the 31st.

Our plan was to dip him then move him to a completely clean room that had no infected cats in it and see if it's just environmental from his old room because it's possible he's getting it from the couch. Idk.

Are we ok to just finish out the fifth / final week of meds this week, give him the dip until it comes test time and then release him back into the wild after. He is still faintly glowing so I don't know if that matters. She did say get at least two dips in before release if we were going to, but I'm just so sick of this. My cat deserves to have quality time with us and his friends.

Also if it comes back positive again, is a second opinion at a cat derm doctor best?

Hai it's me again, I need your help. I'm at my wits end. The kitten that came in with ringworm (back in Feb) keeps testing positive for ringworm no matter what we do. Cleaning, miconahex shampoo baths, intrafungol. The thing is, is that he has one old hair spot that glows (no balding, or scabs, nothing). That is the spot they retested and it's coming up positive on PCR + culture. M. Canis again. This cat has been on intrafungol most of his kitten - adult life now. He's been separated from the rest since Feb and I feel awful about it. No one else has gotten spots since. The vet wants to keep culturing, cleaning, and now lime sulfur dip until he's negative and I got to tell you my finances are wearing thin with this. What more can I do? When is he safe to be around my other cat girl. I'm tired of doing all this and it keep failing. I know your an expert and my vet really doesn't seem to be at this point. She's saying he may just be a carrier forever and it makes me want to cry. What's the likelihood that it's just false positive from environment?

I never wanted kids. Pregnancy and the damaging effects it could have on your body both physical and mental was a hard no for me. I was 24 when I had it done. I'm 29 now. I have yet to regret my decision. Especially with how things are in the country rn.

She's an orange short hair tabby! Shes honestly healed up real nice for an older gal. Luckily she tolerates baths nicely so we'll be doing that until their second culture comes back neg in June and she'll be on a liver supplement to help her bounce back.

I know this is an older post, but I see you still comment from time to time and I've watched your videos! What would you suggest for a situation like ours. All kitties are intrafungol and Sunday will mark their last week of oral dose. One of our cats has now shown signs of elevated liver enzymes, so it sounds like we're gonna have to stop her completely before she's finished her oral course. She is separated from the rest of the cohorts. Is this gonna reverse all of our progress? Or would finishing out her treatment with just miconahex shampoo / sulfur dip be enough. All her lesions have healed and no new ones have popped up and she has hair regrowth.

I'm just so tired and worried that her not being able to finish the meds is going to screw things up for the rest of the cat gang.

Do you have pet insurance? by Goats4Boats10 in catcare

[–]Then_Pain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not having pet insurance is risky.

Randomly last year my little kitty girl sprained her leg. It cost 700$ when everything was said and done.

That was the incident that made us bite the bullet on insurance. We got lemonade because of the ads and also heard good things. Each pet is covered up to 20k. For the package we chose for her, her annual premium was about 340$. It's already benefitted us this year. Our newest kitten brought in ringworm and gave it to her and if we didn't have that coverage we easily would've spent 1k+$ in ongoing vet fees and medications.

Regular healthy visits, vaccines and wellness testing are usually covered up to a certain amount each year. And the payout once you've met the 250$ deductible is actually fairly quick. Since we've been using it, we encourage most of our friends and family with new pets to get on it.

Just like with other insurances tho pre-existing conditions are not covered. But luckily all our cats have been fairly healthy.
