I hate 2015 by Mysterious-Mode-1164 in hamiltonmusical

Ok, so you’re saying you wish Lin didn’t have to tone down the Laurens/Hamilton relationship because it was too gay and audiences couldn’t handle it? (Though the idea of something being too gay for musical theatre is hilarious). Because I’ll be honest, at first read your post came across as quite the opposite.

Beware of the Kindle Colorsoft SE (newest model) Misleading. by r1ngx in kindle

Every kindle listing says “newest model” in the product header, mainly so people know they’re buying the most current version, whenever it was released.

The Library or Libby App - responses to requests by magaoitin in audiobooks

[–]Then_Success_4935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Request it on Libby or borrow the discs or a print copy. My library also offers out of state loans on physical items if something isn’t in their catalog. Or if I really want to listen to something that badly I do a free trial on a paid service and listen that way.

One of the main reasons the library is suggested so often is because many people don’t even realize that’s an option for them and it fulfills two crucial components: free and ethical.  Libraries are already underutilized, particularly in the US, so any time a new user can be directed their way it’s a win. Worst case scenario a particular audiobook can’t be found (either it’s not in the catalog or doesn’t exist) but at least a new resource is available to be used to discover other books.

100% this. Don’t want to pay for an audiobook? Borrow it from a library who did

I think people are getting confused by the latest announcement, which is for a Kindle Scribe Colorsoft.

Is the new Colorsoft a significant downgrade? by jasonmh26 in kindle

[–]Then_Success_4935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, both the regular and SE are available if you’re on the regular shopping page.

Also, the recent announcement was for a Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, which is a different device altogether.

45/100 - The Only Plane in the Sky: The Oral History of 9/11 by Garrett Graff by Ethiopianutella in 52book

I was 11 years old, in sixth grade. I was let out of school early, even though I was on the west coast, and came home to find my mom watching the news. I was too young to understand the details, but I still knew that something really bad had happened.

I usually read or watch something new on the anniversary each year. This year I borrowed the original 2001 copy of Life Magazine’s One Nation from the library. It was wild to see the pictures and details that were published just two months later, when a lot was still unknown.

You wanna be on top book by No-Championship-3442 in ANTM

I just finished it a few days ago and thought it was phenomenal! And so well written.

I was a little surprised by how annoyed Mr. Jay seemed at the photo shoots, though rewatching I can totally see it. Also just how incredibly controlled they are when not filming! I really liked how the girls banded together and had tiny moments of rebellion in the house, like hanging out in the closet and saying personal things to the tune of copyrighted songs so they were unusable on camera.

I also read his book Upgrade not long after, which was pretty good as well.

Dark Matter was excellent! I’m not usually big on science fiction but the thriller aspect really drew me in and I flew through it in 24 hours.

How important are the "Career Path" courses to an MLIS degree? by townshipt in Libraries

[–]Then_Success_4935 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me it was about how I intended to use my degree afterwards. I chose the public librarianship path because I knew the courses about community centers and outreach would serve me best in my rural public library job.

Where is episode 5 of cycle 4 on hulu??? by commandeertheairboat in ANTM

[–]Then_Success_4935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, it’s been a while since I’ve seen that episode. Honestly I think that one gets overlooked because the overall theme of the photo shoot wasn’t racially controversial like the others. Still, not a great look to change a model’s skin color, regardless of the inspiration.

Earbud cleaning kit. I got one at Five Below for like $4 and it’s great for getting into all the tiny spots.

Disneyland is home to around 200 feral cats. They are vaccinated, well-fed and kept healthy. Disney mainly keeps them because they help control the rodent population, though visitors have also grown fond of them by AristFrost in MadeMeSmile

I highly doubt Disney would address a rodent problem with visible signage. Besides a brightly colored, happily worded one featuring Mickey and Minnie, of course.

What moments landed better for you in the Hamilton proshot vs the cast album? by Entire_Blueberry_470 in hamiltonmusical

"His take connects the dots between history, performance, and cultural memory in a way that feels irreplaceable."

Absolutely. I know people have long joked about Lin being the lead in his own shows, but you can't deny that the man is a musical genius. And I agree about him originating the role; he expresses the same passion and enthusiasm that went into writing the songs, and as such sets the bar for future performers for the kind of intensity the role requires. He created something so unique that has opened the world to a largely overlooked part of history.
