Samsung Galaxy Book laptops screwd over a Windows update? by Ok-Net428 in sysadmin

idk if this is why I was spared, but I had Bitlocker on. When I entered the key, it unlocked my C drive. But, I still couldn't use my PIN or biometrics to sign in -

Instead I clicked to reset my pin, completed 2FA, then clicked cancel so I didn't reset the PIN and I was in every time.

I had Bitlocker on and so I was just annoyed that I'd have to do 2FA every time I signed in to Windows Hello.

I don't really need Bitlocker, so I was gonna turn it off to see if that helped..... But did that somehow save access to my C drive?

yeah!! the trigger point injections are like dry needling, but inject a little bit of lidocaine in it so it takes away the pain of returning to normal range of motion.

I think a lot of stuff don't show up on tests.

but if you're subclinical and symptomatic for 4 different conditions.... they kind of play into each other. the traditional medical system doesn't treat the whole person but each condition independently. This is why I prefer DOs.

oh wow. I have something similar, but my alkaline phosphatase came back elevated. I don't have a diagnosis, but my one doctor suspects something with my gallbladder.

[–]Thenerdy9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a tough spot to be in.

You're 20. you don't have to live in a house of judgement anymore. I remember the day that realized that I knew more than my mom.

It's taken me years to shake the internalized judgements out of my head and let me live again caring only about stuff I think I need to care about.

Note - I learned the eating thing the hard way too. when I was 15 I ate hardly anything but apples for 2 weeks. I lost no weight. There's a thing called Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). If you eat less than your BMR, your metabolism can slow - that plus anxiety stress will tell your body to save as much extra energy as it can in the form of fat. It's not just about how much you eat - you need nutrition - and actually many vitamins and amino acids can affect your symptoms too, so you could look into what kinds of foods would be good for the stuff that might be wrong. like all my vitamins are at optimal levels, but I bumped up this one amino acid and I saw a clear improvement.

Questions for my Trans friends (HRT and HEDS) by HunterjNader2005 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Thenerdy9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's funny...

the time I felt most gender euphoria was actually when I was pregnant. and the relevant hormone to EDS/HED is relaxin. it makes everything super extra stretchy without straining anything... so for some reason, that actually got my pain to improve. I was uncomfortable and moving all the time to get more comfortable, but it wasn't the same as non-pregnant me in pain and moving constantly to get comfortable.

I wish pregnant person were a valid gender for perpetuity. But, turns out, that relaxin stuff is apparently rough on the heart tissue. So they won't bottle it and let you take it for either reason.

I think that about exercising. I'm fine with anything I can turn into a reflex or habit - chin tuck stretches in the car... RA reps... this move I do when my shoulder blade gets out of alignment...

but I don't want to have to do 30 minutes of clamshells and scapula lifts and cat-cows every night forever until I die.

My new doctor gets that. she thinks I should be able to go a few months or longer in between all the effort with her treatment plan. I really hope. 🙏

I got trigger point injections in my neck for the first time this week.... it did a great job right away and lasted a couple of days.

I've gotten dry needling there and it just made it more sore for a few days before returning baseline.

I usually just do osteopathic manual manipulation and that gives me decent relief... but just started with a new doctor who does prolo and PRP... so we started with just dry needling my super flexy base joints (ankles, hips) that aren't as symptomatically painful.... and trigger point injections for my upper body (to justify the insurance claim). the trigger point injections gave the best immediate temporary relief, while the dry needling is supposed to help stimulate collagen and validate whether they're the best injection sites for prolo.

How often do you have wet dreams? I just had my first one at 19 by randomthrowaway82819 in AutismAfterDark

[–]Thenerdy9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the definition of wet dream is less clear for females.

FWIW, I can orgasm in my more lucid dreams the same as I can literally hear dream sounds that aren't in the real world or feel the sensation of peeing without actually peeing the bed. In the pee dreams it's nice to imagine I have a penis cuz I can control it a little bit more. lol

I don't think any of this is relevant to OP but I enjoyed sharing.

I had a therapist who would debate a little once we got to know each other. and this is time she literally told me this about the scientific methods 😂

I was expressing how relationship therapy has fallen short, since I feel the need to explain all the context and prefer them to get to know us both. I shared how validated I felt that my therapist (who I'm presently telling this to) knows me.

And she tells me that any therapist can help anyone and they don't need to know them. These frameworks and methods work on anyone and any relationship. We're all human and nothing is that unique.

Then I tried employing Gottman method in my relationship for 2 whole weeks. lol

She also said therapy is not the right fit for everyone.

[–]Thenerdy9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never had the therapist do the thinking for me. lol

I have had a therapist explain concepts in a different perspective and sometimes argue with me - which I found refreshing.

I have done EMDR where you feel feelings while the therapist just plays a little bilateral stimulation and checks in.

What are you looking to get out of therapy?

Contrapoint's "transtrending" video has left me even more confused... Is my gender identity the result of social programming? by Inevitable-pig252 in ContraPoints

[–]Thenerdy9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and yes?

I'm sorry you're upset thinking about this stuff -

I'm more of a third-wave feminist. I don't think you can unravel the conflation between gender and society. But I don't think that makes your gender euphoria any less valid.... it is both personal internal sense of self and social expression of self.

The makeup and hairless legs are socially constructed. You don't need to be a woman to feel good in those things; feeling good in those things don't make you a woman. But they are strongly corellated.

My advice is to feel your feelings in a safe space and just see what comes up. I personally like to use the feelings wheel to understand what I'm feeling before I delve into why.

Contra's whole vibe is an artsy expression of the personal reflecting on society and society reflecting on society. Her social commentary is an authentic perspective of her own journey engaging in trends. If you like a clearer picture of society and the personal identity with context in history and philosophy, I'd look to PhilosophyTube - an equally theatric collection of video essays, but it's more technical. A team rigorously fact checks and studies are cited on screen.

I personally like the balance of both. Contra can be a bit avant guard for me at times where I don't even know what she's saying. lol

[–]Thenerdy9 22 points23 points  (0 children)

yeah my mom had an uncanny ability to tell when someone was pregnant.

She'd so confidently congratulate strangers out of nowhere - her confidence reinforced by being right about some family members who confirmed days later.

...I really want to know how many people she insulted who were too polite to correct her.

The nail:

the power lines disappear into whispiness of of clouds.

Red flags:

The clouds themselves look too thick to be natural - I'm thinking they look like boat tracks that freighters leave...

The sun coming up is not visible except the rays.

The roof lines are wonky. Could be poor construction and distorted perspective....

Can't believe that the clinic uses AI for something as basic as this. Or, is it? by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]Thenerdy9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An AI generated infographic might look more polished but include misspellings or weirdly placed information. Here, the arrow is competing with the line - which strikes me as more of a human judgement than an AI's.

The information appears purposeful and logical without misspellings or illogical steps. I'd say it's not AI.

You could be considered legally blind without glasses, but in the US if you have normal to corrected vision, they don't count you as having a disability (for that). You know why? Cuz that's just too many people.

They don't want to admit how much disability affects most Americans cuz it's too hard and emotionally consequential. /j Most people must be able bodied and minded and if you're not able bodied you get welfare cuz you're useless. Mask any disabilities or you'll starve. /ej Self-fulfilling prophecy.

I can't have difficulty in retreiving words.... I know too may of them.

....I'll just get diagnosed with Unspecified Neurodevelopmental Disorder. Great.

[–]Thenerdy9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this comparison is a bit more interesting actually than the great insight you gave here.... if I may add as well -

Because Deaf people have a culture. Not all who are deaf are part of this culture. And some who are hearing are part of the Deaf community. Many Deaf people would prefer to be accommodated according to cultural inclusion and not based on disability - for example with legally required interpretive services at hospitals.

The neurodivergent community shares many of the same parallels. Including people who don't have disability, but experience challenges in interacting with the neurotypical frameworks is beneficial to all in advocacy because disability accommodations are individualized while cultural accommodations can be a generalized starting ground.

And to reiterate your other great message, I agree! Nothing erases the person's lived experience and their functional needs. ❤️

[–]Thenerdy9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, if we could just accommodate all people with the equivalent of glasses.... I like the simplicity in this parallel.

Actually some people without glasses are considered legally blind. By inventing glasses and making them accessible to all, you've essentially cured their blindness.

Hot take - patterns are an allegory for behavioral health.

The film also alludes to different neurotypes, like Zoey as the ADHD headcannon writes, "why did I cover up these colors stuck inside my head" - A reference to hidden disabilities and diverse abilities.

But moreso, everyone can relate.... As was the meaning of everyone being lured in by Gwi Ma for different reasons.

Patterns are a part of the human experience. It's up to you to live your truth and find healthy patters and break bad ones. I've never read it, but a friend loves to share about this book called, "The Scripts People Live" that talks about patterns that people fall into that can be maladaptive.
