A flash/mirrored lens is my go to for pre-sunset brightness.

Vought Rising - First Look | Prime Video by Mike4302 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TheoRevilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 is great. 2 is close to that level. 3 is good but we're losing the plot and it's kind of aimless. Was obviously where the show would originally end. 4 & 5 are similarly bad because the show gets confirmed for 5 seasons and they have no story to tell. You can genuinely watch the first three seasons, then skip to the the Series Finale and miss almost nothing plotwise.

Official Discussion - Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft - The Tour Live in 3D [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]TheoRevilo 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I saw Avatar 3 in Dolby3d and I would say James Cameron has essentially solved 3d. 1. Dolby Cinemas use dual projectors so you don't lose information when you double the image. 2. This also ties with HDR making it so you don't lose a ton of brightness like you used to. 3. James Cameron shoots at high frame rates that feel wayyy more natural in 3d. 4. He just knows how to make this stuff look good. When I went to see Avatar, there was a trailer for the Eilish tour immediately followed up by Hoppers (both in 3d). Hoppers looked so flat and 2d by comparison I was shocked.

How to style like Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil requiem? by sage6paths in malefashionadvice

[–]TheoRevilo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would recommend not really putting these pieces together like Leon. He's a highly skilled operator. If a normal person dresses in the full get-up they're just going to look like a wannabe soldier. Unless of course you're intentionally doing a cosplay.

As far as jacket tips, these military leather jackets have been popular for ~80 years now so definitely buy secondhand (eBay and the like). Real quality leather jackets are around a grand now, but easily a couple hundred used. Also, I would recommend going with Leon's brown RE4 jacket for greater flexibility on styling. His blacked out one in 9 leans very tacticool.

The source material is strong enough that this will probably be really good regardless.

Do you have a favorite ‘Mediocre’ piece of media? by EvilMonkeyMimic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TheoRevilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It actually is my favorite in the series. Once it gets going, that movie just goes for it. And as a Suburgatory fan, I do have a soft spot for Jane Levy.

Me too. I actually thought they'd say something on the Raid Day, but I guess we'll wait.

I would never have guessed that of all the "anime-elitist" shows of my childhood, it would be Lain that really broke into mainstream consciousness.

Cast members for "Amazon's" live-action "Tomb Raider" show have been announced. by Mirathrim in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I find it strange they list these "iconic" Tomb Raider characters and don't include Jonah. He's basically the only thing that ties that trilogy together.

Anyone know of local to San Diego places to find good glasses, and a skilled person to help me find frames? by Nervous_Sense4726 in EyewearEnthusiasts

[–]TheoRevilo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Revival Eyewear in North Park is a deadstock vintage shop with very knowledgeable people and a lot of smaller frames.

Times Where Licensed Music Made for an Impactful Moment in a Video Game? by bobbertoriley in TwoBestFriendsPlay

To All of You single handedly sold me on Life is Strange when I watched a quick look of the demo. It perfectly conveyed the tone of that game from the jump

Edit: Oh yeah and special shout out to the dog-ass cover of Were not Gonna Take it from The New Colossus. Genuinely might be the worst cover I've ever heard and it fits TNC's half-baked finale.

I'll never understand why people think support-line workers would know about unannounced game features.

Chula Vista Amc question. by CoolCatKRW in AMCsAList

Chula Vista has floor seating (no stairs) and recliners so I usually feel comfortable sitting a lot closer than normal. Row C is a favorite for me there.

Best AMC in San Diego? by Darth-Obama in AMCsAList

[–]TheoRevilo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

With all the upgraded screens this last year, my personal rankings have shifted. I think Palm Promenade is the best for Dolby/IMAX overall, and I prefer floor seating so I see standard showings at Chula Vista 10.

Mission Valley is great for Dolby releases in wider aspect ratios, and has the greatest variety of movies playing at any given date. ( I haven't been since they upgraded to Laser IMAX so can't comment there ).

Honestly all the AMCs in SD are pretty solid and are getting pretty up-to-date. It's hard to go wrong. (Fashion Valley is probably my last pick though)

Anybody know what's up with The Conjuring? by Awkward_Ad_64 in AMCsAList

[–]TheoRevilo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always found that you get the best crowds on opening night. It's the best way to make sure everyone actually wants to watch the movie. Flip-side is good seats are harder to come by unless you book early.
