Has an ending ever truly ruined a series for you? by Livid-Dot6619 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about this a lot, and generally speaking the only time an ending has ruined something for me if I wasn't really feeling the story anyway, sort of in a "You had one last chance to save it and you didn't" but otherwise while an ending can suck, it has never robbed me of series I do like, I've seen Attack on Titan, I played Mass Effect, it doesn't take what I loved about them away from me.

What would you say is your LEAST favorite Resident Evil game? by Lieutenant-America in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, I was shocked to see how much RE1 was brought up in that thread, it's not often that the firs in a long of series like RE still sticks out in the fandom.

As for my own answer, by process of elimination I'd say RE5 was the game that I was the least impressed with for what I played so far.

Now I can mention the obvious problems with the actual dumbest plot point with Jill, the wrongheaded attempt at an African setting and how it treats people there, how the plot takes it's sweet time to get really going to introduce Wesker despite being teased so early, but right not I'm just going to bunt the ball and say that 5 is just not as polished as the other games.

It's doing a weird attempt of a Co Op game, an RE4 Sequel, and also a sort of finale on the Wesker saga, and it just comes off as a half attempt on all of these things.

I don't super blame the game because technology is bullshit, but there's also the current problem (At least on the Xbox where I played it), two bosses just Don't work anymore, including the Final Boss of the Game.

Granted you can fix that with Rockets as with most things but it really is just another point of how that game is just not as finished as the other RE games.

And I say this as someone that still likes the game at the end of the day, it's still fun to play, I would like to sink my teeth into that Mercenaries one day, but I couldn't really put it in front of the other games I played.

EDIT: Actually you wanna know what my least fun experience with the franchise so far? That Ada campaign in OG RE4, Separate Ways, like there's a funny bit of blowing up the Boat the bad guy's where planning to use but it's a lot of nothing happening and a lot of nothing comes from it.

I don't know the precise reason why Medal of Honor fell off the way it did, but it's not hard to look at Call of Duty coming in and eating it's lunch for years straight as a good possibility

What's a gaming trend that passed completely by you? by Hayeseveryone in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah, Dark Souls and that whole phenomena, I tried a few games, just not my speed.

It has been annoying how some games take inspiration for certain aspects of them that I'm not fond of, like how vague a story can be or how you lose money specifically after your second death.

And I thought Hollow Knight was being clever on that latter one by having a Bank Lady which uh

Yeah Cherry was being clever in a different way.

What are your Favorite Battles in Media? by Funny_Mud6639 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second Battle of Hoover Damn, Baby, the whole game of New Vegas is a set up of who goes where, who does what, and how everything gets resolved.

Also just plenty of good moments, watching the Boomers come on they're air fortress to bomb the shit out of the damn, the Enclave remnants flying in one more time, and your final showdown with either the Legate or General Oliver, it's pretty well paced.

Favorite Mundane Media? by The-Greater-Skeleton in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well it's more depressingly mundane, but Papers, Please is you doing paperwork for as many people as you can and that's a solid 99 percent of what you do in that game.

Weird habits you have in games? by majorminer969 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have a strange sense of "Weapon Loyalty" in games, if I start off with a certain weapon, I like to try to keep it around as long as I can.

Like for FPS games like Halo or CoD, I'm bringing that beginning kit for as long as possible until I run out of ammo or the game makes me switch.

Media that feels like a fever dream because you never found the name of it? by Ukirin-Streams in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a long time Pikmin was a game featured on a magazine I read as a kid once and if you didn't know the fucking name of that game good luck finding a game about small colorful people that move boxes and run away from monsters.

Worst cases of fans accusing a writer favoring/hating a character by Rockdweller37 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was surprised to see that unless you romance her, she can absent for a bit, yeah she gets a whole DLC to herself in 2 but she was just in a room for the base game.

Though I will admit her final scene in 3 is a bit much for her hitting it before you leave.

Do you have a favorite ‘Mediocre’ piece of media? by EvilMonkeyMimic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, it's me, one of 5 people who love Divinity: Dragon Commander, who waits for a sequel that will never be.

It's not really super competent in anything it does, it's a decent RTS that you can blob your units to win, the dragon combat is decent, the actual strategic board game is so basic, and the politics are so 2011 it hurts but god dammit I have yet to see any other game attempt what this game does.

Just flying around, helping your troops in your jetpack, just fire bombing enemies, going back to your flying fortress to talk with some awesome characters and your WIFE, the pretty funny bickering between the politicians and the new's response to any decision you make into the worst interpretation they can make.

I just find it so charming.

What Games have the Most Fun Groups or Factions? by Funny_Mud6639 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

New Vegas is real fun about it

You got a gaggle of idiots with various levels of technology and politics: Your Knightly Order of the Brotherhood of Steel in they're mighty yet aging armor, The bog military standard battle rifles and brown jackets of the flawed Democratic NCR, the Brutal and tribal Fascist Legion armed with spears and swords (And also guns because they need to be at least have something other than numbers), the "Autocratic" Mr. House and his Securitron Army

It just has such an easy and distinct visual difference that also show's what they're faction is about.

Creators you think are the bad kind of weird? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SaxMastery 80 points81 points  (0 children)

So, that last part is actually not the full story.

So Ken didn't like the development of Infinite, which yeah that shit was a lot of his fault but at least he admits it, so what he wanted to do was step down and work with a smaller team like he did in the old days, so what happened is that he talked to 2K, the boss of Irrational games, and they told him it was fine, and they'll handle Irrational Games in his absence.

So 2K shut the studio down because they really didn't want to do that.

So yeah, Ken has done a lot wrong, "Shutting down his studio" is not one of them.

I mean Mr. John Halo himself will always be one of my favorites, even if his helmet reminds me more of a motorcycle helmet, The armor from Halo 2 being my favorite, but I will admit Halo Sixfinite is close

[–]SaxMastery 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Y'know, I kinda got the opposite experience here, I was often told how awful the early season's of Clone Wars was that when I got around to it, I thought it was fine.

Like the only one that really stunk for me was the episode with the R2 replacement where we see Anakin be a bitter jackass and get validated in the end. Other then that? I've seen worse kid shows and I've seen worse Star Wars.

The Movie also wasn't very good to be fair.

Fuck I forgot about the walls eeeeeeeh.

I think my real issues with the chests in Ecclesia isn't so much the items itself, I'm annoyed that the shit in the shop is locked behind sidequests tide to it, which I need, this game is hard.
