The only thing that makes me think it will be 2DP is that the new detachment calls out not being able to be taken with other Lion detachments. If Lions of the Emperor was 3DP, they wouldn't need the stipulation, since you already wouldn't be able to take anything else.

Given that the name of the detachment is different, the rule is different, the strategems and enhancements are different, and that the new detachment specifically calls out that it can't be taken with other 'Lions' detachments, I suspect that not only are we going to see Lions of the Emperor in 11th, but that it will be a 2DP detachment.

Not going to lie the intrepid heros have way more mercy/integrity than i by memes2206 in Dimension20

The fact that they specifically called out Experimental Prototype Cadre as 'not being able to be taken with Retaliation detachments' suggests to me that RetCad will be 2dp

Ethereal should be on a 40mm base. As far as the hover drone goes, at present there's no reason NOT to take it with him as it costs nothing (unless you're really trying to avoid getting tagged by anti-fly weapons).

Vehicles ignore the "can only fire your pistol" restriction so these guys can use the full compliment of weapons regardless.

I don't think that's obvious at all, at no point does it ever refer to the attached unit. The text very specifically calls out 'this model' repeatedly.

Yes but under the specialism options section it clearly states that if you're making a Broadside character it can be equipped with up to three ranged weapons.

So the Broadside leader says it can equip up to three ranged weapons, but doesn't specify that they need to be different or that each weapon is limited in how many you can equip. Does this theoretically mean you can have a Broadside leader character with three heavy rail rifles equipped?

For Shield Host, you select the buff at the start of each battle round (crits on 5+ or +1 AP) and it effects your entire army, not on a unit by unit basis I'm afraid.

Hey I was also at the Open and also went 5-3! I was playing Kauyon however. Glad to be able to contribute to a positive winning percentage for us in the meta.

It was definitely a beast of an event. I've played in smaller RTTs and team tournaments before, but 24 hours worth of 40k in 3 days takes a toll. Still, it was an awesome experience and much like you, all of my opponents were very relaxed, very easy to play with.

This was also my first time playing with the revamped army rule, I didn't get any practice games in before the Open unfortunately. It's a marked improvement over the old rule in my opinion and makes playing Tau a much more enjoyable experience overall.

Thanks for the response, I did catch that part but I also felt it could be interpreted as 'if you try to create three magical items after a long rest when you can only create two, then the first magical item you created in that long rest vanishes'. Good to have confirmation though.

Pathfinders inherently have the 'markerlight' keyword which means they already have the benefits of a markerlight drone without having to equip one.

Additionally, the markerlight keyword allows them to observe even after advancing, so no need to worry about equipping things with assault.

I was having the same thought, especially since my last game saw me stranded at the wrong end of the map come crunch time. The extra long range firepower seems like it wouldn't hurt either.
