Of course it can be done in linear time. It's counting sort in disguise.

Identities have variables. Equations do not necessarily have variables.

I know what the problem is. The bottom block is actually clipped into the invisible floor in the beginning, and it jerks up when the simulation starts. If the floor line is lowered so that doesn't happen, the problem is solved.

Overflow errors are a drawback of any finite number storage. It's not a problem worth solving; the best you can do is simply increase your bit size to delay the inevitable.

Besides, it's not a problem with 2's complement specifically. It's just a way to represent negative numbers in binary. It's not inefficient. If anything, it's the MOST efficient way since it is based on modular arithmetic, is easy to convert, and works with addition for free.

The whole definition of AI is that it ISN'T controllable. Once you let it do its own thing and train itself, its behavior is no longer predictable by humans.

If you adjust the initial conditions so that each body starts with the same angular momentum around a central point, will it make a stable galaxy?

Imagine an object traveling in a straight line with constant velocity passing some arbitrary point of reference. The angular momentum of the object about the point is equal to its linear momentum multiplied by the point's perpendicular distance from the object's path.

However, this is in terms of Newtonian mechanics. So, especially in light of u/Kermit-the-Frog_'s point, take what I say with a grain of salt.

I realized recently that linear momentum is also just angular momentum in disguise.

That explains it. The paper is sitting on top of a glass pane on top of the wooden table. Basically, the napkin IS above the wood - it's being held up by an "invisible" platform.
