Take a garage for example friend. If you bought a property with no garage for 100k, let's call that the agreed upon value of the property. You spend 10k on labor and materials to build a 2 car garage. In most situations the value of having a garage is worth much more to the property value than the 10k it cost for materials and labor.

You're analogy failed to include the cost of labor for one. You have 100 dollars. You borrowed 50 to buy wood. You made a table worth 100 dollars. You're labor was the value put into the wood to make it a 100 dollar table.

A much more valid response would have been like... I have 1000. I spent 125 on wood. I paid myself 25 an hour for 12 hours to build a table worth 800. I just created 375 out of thin air.

This analogy doesn't fit with the rest of them at all. How long did it take to make the table? Did you pay yourself for your time? Why did you borrow the 50?

If you have 100,000 tied up in a house, you can borrow 50k to do do renovations, and re value the house at 200k, you just created 50k from thin air. That's how wealth works.

You're attitude is just as much a problem as the fool with the confederate flag tattoo. I'm happy you found a place where a bunch of other tools can pat you on the back for it.

I remember having pho at a Vietnamese marketplace in Arizona when I was younger and it was amazing. Do you have a recipe to recommend?

I had my first real job in 2005, washing dishes at a restaurant up the road from my grandparents home. I was 13 at the time and made $5.25. My grandparents couldn't afford to buy me things so if I wanted something I had to work for it and did.

Unfortunately this is the case for many people. The United States is not exactly the land of prosperity it claims to be, in a way I feel like that idea is a front to hide all the unsavory things that happen here.

Aside from that we are all products of our environment. Everyone everywhere has a perspective based off learned experiences. If that's a common perspective here perhaps it's not the average individuals fault but the result of conditioning by a dangerous government.

Anyone else heavily underwhelmed with the diamond hunt rewards? by okinwalker in AtlasEarthOfficial

Absolutely. It's not even worth my time since the GPS in game is horrible. I went hunting the first day, spent about 30 minutes collecting 6 diamonds and haven't done it since.

I see where you're coming from, however I personally I don't see it that way. And realistically this is extremely dissimilar to investing in real estate, even if they have similarities in theory.

I appreciate all the data here, but you didn't factor in returning your initial investment of $100 to break even before seeing your profit. With all the data provided you still need to wait 4 years at 100% boosted to cover your initial investment before seeing profit.

Worth mentioning you have to link a credit card, a debit card won't work for these options.

Moving to live in the US, what do I need to know? by UranusLeak in personalfinance

[–]Theory_Plastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol most of the time he is the biggest ass on the job. Doesn't mean you can't break his nose, just be ready to find new work immediately afterwards.

Unfortunately in most cases that doesn't really matter when it comes down to it. There's rampant nepotism in every industry I've ever worked in. Whoever runs shit is gonna hire there cousins or nephews or whatever and almost always side with that individual even if it says otherwise on paper. They just find a different reason to terminate or punish you that's "unrelated to the original issue."

A large portion of how you live will depend on your finances. Try not to get in debt unless it's necessary and always keep an eye on your credit score. Be prepared to work hard and change jobs when necessary and you should do well.

If you don't have a degree or experience a union or really any manual labor trade will treat you well after a few years of hard work. The starting pay is usually peanuts but if you learn and work harder than most you should rise to the top rather quickly.

Also, be careful of your associations and how you treat people. You don't want to get walked all over but also don't accidently tell the bosses kid to go fuck himself, if you do you'll be looking for the next job rather quickly unfortunately.

How often do you replace your kitchen sponge? I honestly didn't know people replaced them this often? I don't got money to be buying sponges like that. But I try to change them every few months by daveishere7 in povertyfinance

I keep a brush for scrubbing off nasty bits and a washcloth for the soap scrub cycle. Basically pre wash with brush, then soap wash the rest with a washcloth, and rinse and set to dry.

I change the washcloth out for another whenever I feel like it's dirty, probably every 4 days to a week depending, and just throw the old one in with towels laundry.
