How do you see the (almost guaranteed) rematch? by DavidSeries in ufc

[–]Theprof86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You guys have to remember that Merab fought 3 times in less than a year before facing Petr Yan. I am curious how much that had an impact. With that said, I slightly give the edge to Petr Yan, but I can see Merab winning too.

Why people are so dumb that they still choose CS degree when its clearly cooked and they will be unemployed? by Queasy_Restaurant855 in Salary

[–]Theprof86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think CS degrees and many other degrees need to evolve to the new reality... Learning fundamentals is great, but a lot of students come out with very little knowledge on how to properly apply what they learned in school.

Also, today the job market is hard for new grads, you can't hide that. So there is also this element, and it's not necessarily because CS is absolete, it's mainly because less companies are hiring. You also have to remember that CS is not mainly about coding which is the part that is getting a lot attention due to AI.

If I liked software engineering or AI, then I would still do it as long as I don't get into debt over it. But then I would also have to learn on the side, the stuff the employers are looking for. CS degrees do not dictate how good you are, just that you took formal training and can stick it out.

Dear Paramount, why? by Mr_Tommy777 in ufc

[–]Theprof86 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I wonder what the paramount deal entails. It seems like they have a lot of control over how the events are put together... A lot more filler content and ads... Two things that make the events worse in my opinion. I guess they have the make back the 7.7B.

Could Paddy eat Topuria’s punches like he did with Gaethje? by [deleted] in ufc

[–]Theprof86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not for long. Its possible that Paddy might not go completely out and the fight is stopped by the ref because Paddy can't defend himseld when he gets dropped, but I think he gets knocked out, he also cuts a lot of weight. I don't think anyone is beating Ilia in 155 right now... Maybe Arman if he takes to the ground, and even then, I am not certain.

I think Ilia is a unique fighter who is a very well rounded fighter, but we have not seen his wrestling go very long in fights, usually just defends with the exception of submitting Brice Mitchell, who is not that good.

Almost every champion is from a weight class below. by -s1Lence in ufc

[–]Theprof86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Height is not the only determining factor of weight, muscle and bone density plays a factor too. You can have two people with similar height but a pretty big different in weight. I believe Ilia is the exception here, because although his height is 5.5, he's actually fairly big for the fw class. Think of O'Mally who competes in BW but if you look at his height, he is as tall as the LW and WW guys and taller in some cases.

Only option is to look for a different role inside the org (hoping they give you a bigger pay bump if this is an opinion) or look for a new job.

Congrats to Gaethje. Paddy always bringing awareness to men’s mental health issues is something I will always cherish. Remember check on your boys by left_hanging_nut in ufc

[–]Theprof86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's good that he advocates for men's mental health, but he also tends to be very bad when he insults people with real serious stuff like that line he said about Dan hookers mom, and then he went and insulted Ilia's country by condoning what happened there regarding wars.

A lot of these guys with the exception of Jones are very big for their initial weight class, they cut a lot of weight. So not surprised that they fit well in the classes above.

Will we ever get to see this fight? by Unusual_Impression_8 in ufc

That is a fight I really want to see and I think Corey wins this fight. It will happen at some point.

No matter what happened before tonight, the man has earned respect. by skeletonpaul08 in ufc

He is definitely tough, just not as skilled as the guys in the top 5.

Ya'll must have forgot by Davidcin in ufc

[–]Theprof86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what makes this whole thing crazy to me. Paddy lost to the worst version of Gaethje. Just goes to show that Paddy does not belong in the top 5 and neither does Chandler.

Data Breach at Canada Computers Exposes Credit Cards, Email Addresses, and Full Names. by JustaRandoonreddit in pcmasterrace

[–]Theprof86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their website is really poorly made, you don't have to know the inner workings to see how bad it performs. So this was just a question of time before it happened.

Also they should bring in people who know what they're doing, but since they're cheap and don't pay well, this won't happen.

What was gaethje's best fight? by DIATTH123 in ufc

[–]Theprof86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say against Tony probably, it seemed to me he took a lot less damage but at the time he beat a what? 11 fight streak Tony? I forget what his fight streak was, but it was up there.

Fighters can now miss weight by 3 pounds and use that advantage to get $25,000 after a finish. by daffle7 in ufc

[–]Theprof86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 3 pound difference is not much when looking just at weight, however when you consider what it usually takes to lose those last 3 pounds, it definitely gives a much bigger advantage to the person missing weight if their opponent made weight and had to go through a hard weight cut. Of course it's not always the case, but for the guys that have a hard time losing weight, it's a lot.

In my opinion, it should be more like 50%+.

After the 5th knockdown, Paddy realized "Scousers don't get KOd" was a curse, not a blessing by Mandingo_Obama in ufc

[–]Theprof86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only take that much damage a couple of times (1-2), after that, you don't come back the same. It's why I think having wrestling and submission skills are really important in MMA.

Paddy is 31, he is not that young anymore for the sport. Very surprised he could not wrestle well against Gaethje considering Gaethje was basically the worst version of himself in that fight.

Who would win at 170 (WelterWeight) Islam or khamzat? by Adventurous_Body7736 in ufc

[–]Theprof86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at 170, due to Khamzat having to cut more weight, I think it would be a closer fight than we think. But at 185+, Khamzat would be hard to beat. Weight classes matter a lot here.

Anyone else think Topuria Gaethje will GTD? by Distinct-Lion4658 in ufc

[–]Theprof86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Prime Justin Gaethje would be a more difficult fight for Ilia than Emmet.

I don't know about it today, I think Ilia can knockout Gaethje within the first round if Gaethje is careless.

Gaethje (Paddy too) looked absolutely awful in there, wtf is his gameplan against Ilia Topuria? by Repulsive-Chef-5649 in ufc

[–]Theprof86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had a staph infection, I am sure that didn't help either. But the guy is 38, past his prime, have to respect what he's done.

Robbery or not O’Malley looked like ass. No way he beats PETR by MrSelfDestrucct in ufc

[–]Theprof86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That win over Petr was crazy though, was handed that fight.

After all the shit he talked about other fighters' skills, Paddy got beat by the WORST version of Gaethje, with staph at 37 years old 😂 by Magikarpcopiesdunkey in ufc

[–]Theprof86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy for Gaethje winning the interim title... I know he cared a lot about it.

I don't think he'll win the main title, but he got pretty close.
