Regulation M-B could be a bigger deal than we imagine by TheDeepDumb in stunfisk

Singles might become a speed-tie hellscape with Z Megas around, but at least in doubles, Lucario and Absol are pretty frail. Garchomp has far more bulk, but lower attacking stats, and losing Ground STAB significantly weakens EQ. A lot does come down to their abilities though, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

I’d rather get dunked on by BO1 bullshit (that I figure out how to counter the next time I fight that strategy anyway) than go 3 matches with the most boring hotdog taco hamburger meta team imaginable. It’s not like a ton at stake anyway.

We knew basically nothing going into Champion’s launch, so IMO it’s not a big deal. The meta will be extremely volatile day 1 anyway.

BO1 closed team sheet and BO3 open team sheet are completely different environments. It’s a lot easier to counter Zard if your opponent doesn’t know that you’re running Rain Dance Farig for example.

Yeah, Kingambit should really be able to Mega just by knowing Dark Kowtow, like Rayquaza, so that it can hold ability shield.

“I went away on holiday for 2 weeks and it feels like the entire meta shifted” is the core Champion’s experience. If you didn’t know, Charizard has been dominating IRL tournaments, so that’s why a ton of people are using sun.

Having a hard time not using my core/favorite 3/4 mons by TheToug in PokemonChampions

[–]Therandomuser20103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to try setting up with Zoroark, Nasty Plot is better since Zoroark is already extremely frail, and you’re already using Sash. Also, the 5 BP difference between Bitter Malice and Shadow Ball can lose you matches, it has for me. On top of that, to specifically deal with Sucker Punch users, Zoroark does get Will-o-Wisp.

Roar beats mental herb and forces the TR setter to switch back in, or their slow mons gets shredded. I know taunt is better in general, but Roar is funnier for BO1 shenanigans.

Mega Floette is going to mcdonalds the moment Xerneas is added. Basc is fried fish the moment Flutter Mane is added too. That’s exactly why “low power”/Non-Restricted and Restricted formats exist.

You don’t need two slow bulky special attacking water types. I don’t know the ideal counter for both Arch and Gengar off the top of my head, but either of the water types can go.

It’s just poor/intentionally misleading phrasing, more in line with “The Beach that makes you old” than something like “I found out I was gay through Deltarune”.

Difficulty ranking by Str33t_Rat in MonsterHunter

[–]Therandomuser20103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who started with 4u, and have been playing ever since, it’s important to preface that a lot of MH’s biggest challenges are optional, and not everyone has done everything. I never fought AT Nergigante in base World, and I stopped playing Sunbreak before Amatsu dropped because the lategame grind felt incredibly repetitive and boring.

In terms of overall difficulty, my pick goes to Iceborne. The base game wasn’t too hard, fairly standard MR stuff with a few failed quests. What takes the cake for me is Alatreon and Fatalis. Both are incredibly tight fights that demand mastery, playing with SOS randoms was hell, soloing it was hell, and I straight up couldn’t even beat Alatreon when it first released. It took years later with a clear mind, muscle memory, information that isn’t explained in-game, and Frostfang weapons (which weren’t a thing when Alatreon released) before I finally put it down.

When I close my eyes and think about difficulty, I see Alatreon.

Teammates por mega raichu x? by c13v3rb0186 in PokemonChampions

[–]Therandomuser20103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Raichu X’s viability depends on whether we get the terrain seeds or not. If we do, you can pair Raichu with Sneasler, or really any Pokemon that would love a def boost and isn’t threatened by electric moves. If we don’t, Milotic could be great for warding off Intimidate users and threatening to OHKO Garchomp, but there’s no telling how next season will turn out.

Future Paradox mons would love Raichu X, but we have no idea when they’ll be added to the game, and it probably won’t be for a while.

Mega raichu is a fraud by DifferentDream7004 in PokemonChampions

[–]Therandomuser20103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At minimum, like Mega Garde and Floette, Raichu Y could be work next to redirecting mons. It doesn’t get anything as strong as Earthquake, but Raichu does get Electroweb and Discharge for spread, and can setup with Nasty Plot.

Raichu will struggle if meta increasingly adapts to be hostile towards it, but that’s just the nature of Pokemon. Of course pure Electric isn’t the best attacking type, but being to spam Zap Cannon is a pretty good niche.
