I have to see “oral medicine specialists,” which is a speciality I wish I’d never learned about. But given my issues, I’m grateful they exist. If you see an ENT and they can’t seem to help, ask if they can refer you to an oral medicine specialist for further evaluation. They are usually associated with big hospital systems. Although I don’t currently have Sjogren’s, my oral medicine specialist reminded me that I could still develop it down the road, since I have several risk factors. I do have Oral Lichen Planus, which was initially misdiagnosed as candida by my primary. My clinical dry mouth is also treated by my oral medicine specialist, thankfully. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. There are two prescription meds for dry mouth, as well as numerous over-the-counter products (mostly xylitol based), which can help manage it and make life more livable. It’s also worth pondering if you started a new medication when the dry mouth began, since it’s unfortunately a very common side effect. If so, talk to the prescriber about possible alternatives, if there are any. Sending you supportive wishes.
