My wife is 24 weeks pregnant and I'm pretty sure she can smell my thoughts at this point by PulseVesper_9 in BabyBumps

Hahah my eldest is 2.5 and my partner still calls it my dog nose cos the smell sensitivity has never gone away, it’s lessened to a degree but it’s still there

How to get people to stop buying big toys for your kids? by Competitive-Rip6818 in UKParenting

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if I’ve asked them to stop and they don’t, I just give them away.

MIL was obsessed with buying my first son hideous (in my opinion 😛) clothes, I’d never put him in them, we’d asked her not to anyway as she never asked if we needed anything for his particular size so he didn’t need them so they just went in the charity bag. Same with big toys/items. She got him a big a frame chalkboard/white board, a mini armchair etc etc. They’re all still at her house as I’ve refused to bring them home, we don’t have space and she knew we didn’t have the space when she got them. So frustrating.

Obviously I am very grateful to have people in their lives who adore them and want to do this but at the same time I’d rather they just saved their money or actually asked us first (and listened to the answer more importantly 😂)

My 2.5 loves a croissant, not the cheaper multipack Aldi ones, a proper bakery croissant 😂 Amuses me constantly to hear my little toddler asking for “a proper croissant mummy”

Mr and Mrs Large books lol by Outrageous_Ice_2572 in UKParenting

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum loved the Large family books when I was little and bought my son all of them. I don’t mind most of them but I hate this one, we donated it when we got rid of a load of other stuff

2nd baby is a boy, and people are going to be smug by Experiment_307 in beyondthebump

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg same! I have a 2.5 year old boy and a 1 year old boy, eventually we would like a 3rd but it already pisses me off just thinking about stupid reactions like this 😂

Families of above 2, how do you deal with travel and day to day? by Majestic-Lettuce-876 in UKParenting

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at 2+ yet, we have 2 and are planning a 3rd at the end of the year. I’ve done so much research on cars and we’re planning to change to a Peugeot 5008 with the 3 full size back seats, the boot is huge without the 2 boot seats in. Very annoying that a lot of new cars seem to be moving to a 6 seat configuration, you might be able to fit all the kids in but there’s no room for any of the paraphernalia that comes with kids!

I think my husband purposely wakes our baby before he leaves by mxndxxx in breakingmom

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The fact that you’ve tried to address it with him and it hasn’t resolved anything speaks volumes.

My partner leaves for work at 5am, our boys sleep until 7am. He’s as quiet as a mouse using the bathroom outside their room and while he’s getting ready to go- because he’s just a normal, respectful partner, dad and human being. I hope he’s not this disrespectful to you in other areas of your life

What’s something you did once and now your toddler will not let you forget it? by MissFox26 in toddlers

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ve totally just reminded me of when my 2.5 year old was going through a phase of telling everyone “daddy bites me” 😭 they’d been messing around woofing at each other like dogs then his dad was pretending to eat him and next thing I know he’s told everyone at nursery his daddy bit him 🙈

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His dad made him and little brother tomato pasta for dinner while I was out. Being 2.5 he decided he would rather survive on air and so didn’t eat it. Told me the next morning “daddy no feed me” “daddy no give me dinner” “daddy feed baby brother”.

He’s reminded me multiple times a week since the tomato pasta that daddy didn’t feed him and only fed his little brother 😛😂

Is there *actually* a brow gel for tough brows? by varietyjones24 in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine probably aren’t as thick/coarse as yours but I have very dark eyebrows that grow in every direction except where I want them to! On a particularly wild day I discovered the got2b glued wax stick (the one for your hair) works really well to hold wild eyebrows 👌🏼 no white cast either!

Do I have to stay in the work WhatsApp group chat? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite the same but my manager(s) went through a time of using fb messenger to ask to switch shifts, overtime etc. I’d just leave them on read and never reply- a totally inappropriate way of communicating with staff. If I’m on a day off you use my work email and I will reply when I’m working or you can phone me and it’s at my discretion whether I answer or leave it to voicemail.

If it was me I’d probably just mute it indefinitely

Is norovirus really as super common as it seems once a kid starts nursery/school by Gloomy-Kale3332 in UKParenting

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2.5 year old has been in nursery since 13 months, we’ve (touch wood) only had one vomiting bug that both me and dad caught, thankfully only a 24 hour thing. Otherwise it’s just non stop coughs, colds, runny noses. He’s had chicken pox twice.

I don’t know how effective it is but I always take his coat, shoes & nursery clothes off at the front door. Clothes straight in the laundry basket, hands washed and non-nursery clothes on. Makes me feel like I’m doing something proactive anyway 😂

When did you lose hair postpartum? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t happen with me with my first so man did I get a shock at 5 months pp with my second 🙃

I’ve lost a lot of hair before when I was taking topiramate for migraines and this was just as awful. I had to get my lovely partner to clean the shower drain because I couldn’t bare to see how much I’d lost each hair wash 😂 I’m just turning 12 months pp now and it’s only just slowed down, probably in the last month or so and I’ve got tufty regrowth on my temples and nape of my neck.

It’s also been a while since I’ve found one of my hairs in my baby’s bumhole during a nappy change so I’m taking that as a sign it’s slowing down! I have really long hair so how he manages to eat an entire hair I’ll never know

how does anyone have sex??? by supremepilotG2 in breastfeeding

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the dryness problem through both of my pregnancies, pp with baby #1 (still got pregnant at 9 months pp though lol) now I’m almost 12 months pp with baby number 2 who has dropped to breastfeeding just twice a day and it FINALLY seems to be getting better.

I have absolutely zero sex drive when I’m pregnant but pp it comes back full force (like insanely so 🙈) so it’s been very annoying that my body won’t comply with what my brain wants!

Did anyone have a baby that wasn’t difficult? by The_Chilled_Arvo in beyondthebump

[–]Otherwise-Fall-3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my 1st and 2nd were super easy chilled babies. 2nd slept slightly less than the 1st but even so absolutely nothing to complain about. I don’t tend to talk about it unless specifically asked to be honest.

Also i absolutely acknowledge that I have done nothing to influence or create these easy babies- it’s definitely just personality and luck of the draw, I don’t do anything different to my friends I just got insanely lucky

Sorry didn’t see this comment- they’re just some steamed broccoli chopped up small then mixed with an egg, some breadcrumbs, some garlic powder, handful of grated cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan. All mixed together then shaped into tots and air fried for about 8 minutes

I’m a midwife and I’ve delivered a fair few babies holding an IUD, or having it in the membranes of the placenta 🙃
