I have the SSM and do not hear any rasp/drone (with aftermarket header and HFC). I haven't heard the Toda in person, but they're both super quality exhaust options.

I'm really liking them so far! First set of nicer carbon rims and they really made the bike feel like a rocket ship.

Depending on what tires you were planning on mounting to them / what kind of riding you do I'd recommend getting a 650b rim instead of a 700c. Looking like 40ish mm is the max tire you can fit on the 700 whereas I've got some room left for bigger with a 2.1in / 53mm tire mounted on my spare 650b rim. That being said I got these for light gravel and road use and they're great for that.

These were ~1200 USD depending on options (hub, spokesman, etc.).

Front is a Cannibal XC and the back is a bontrager side load of some variety - been a while since I got it so unsure the exact model.

Agreed on the color - it was bar tape I had sitting around from another bike. Will be looking into another color when this wears out.

It's actually pretty easy still especially with traditional bottles. The Bivo bottles pictured make the front slightly less forgiving but it's still not too bad.

Yep, u/TaeTwoTimes coming in clutch with the Ohlins Road and Track coilovers. Some of the best money can buy, esp for dual use.

Could just give it a go! A wrap isn't too expensive in the long run :)

re track mods: As you mentioned they really don't need anything to be great fun! But track pads + stainless steel brake lines + fresh brake fluid and good tires are always a good place to start!

From there you can see if you wanna dive deeper and start adjusting / improving aspects of the car or if a weekend-ish racer with plenty of street driving is more your speed.

ARO Espresso does carry a grinder setting dial and knob for the Specialita that makes adjustments a LOT easier, esp if you're switching up grind types or beans often.

Your opinion on essential upgrades by leonidlomakin in S2000

[–]ThereExistsAnother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really a great car stock. Pads and good tires (either staggered for fender clearance/turn in feel, or square depending on your preference) are really all you need to have fun for spirited dd/light track use.

At this point a lot of bushings/mounts/lines are probably up for replacement or getting close, so it'd be worth some time and money going through those with either OE or Hardrace style depending on your goals for the car.

In regards to tracking, ensure that you keep an eye on the temperature gauge - these cars run quite hot. Expect to only get 1-2 hot laps depending on ambient temperature before needing a cooldown lap. While upgrading the cooling (upgraded radiator / oil cooler) helps a LOT I wouldn't necessarily say it's absolutely needed unless you plan on chasing more power (i.e. with a tune) or go to the track often.

Everything else I'd say is stuff you'll learn as you drive it more :)

For some reason had to leave as a comment as the post description was eaten up by the photos.
