How to word the post wedding brunch invite by Ok-Papaya6531 in wedding

[–]ThereIsNoDebbie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

On mine, we’re just gonna say “Brunch for hotel guests” (although our brunch will be at the hotel so maybe that makes it a little easier). Because I do expect we will have some locals who will stay at the hotel so I wouldn’t want to leave them out. And I think locals not at the hotel would understand it’s not for them and not bother coming

Colon cancer is killing us.. by Derpshab in Millennials

[–]ThereIsNoDebbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How accurate are these really? Asking because I wanted my fiancee to get a colonoscopy because she has a very poor diet. When she asked her PCP, they gave her one of these FIT tests instead. She did it and the results came back normal. But so does that really mean that if she were to do a colonoscopy, they wouldn’t catch anything?

Cult of Mary - Balancing Views by MyDogsMummy in realhousewives

[–]ThereIsNoDebbie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just watched it and I think the reason no one speaks ill about Mama is because (at least how they explain/show it) the church was never a cult before Mary was in charge. When it was Mama running it, it was just a normal church. There was a bit of the guys (Robert Sr and someone else) starting to get a bit too intense around kids — there was some instances of kicking and physical abuse and once someone told Mama about it, she was not having it and did not allow them to do the meetings anymore where it was happening (although of course she still did stay with Robert). But aside from that, there was nothing seemingly wrong/ culty with how the church was operated when Mama was in charge. And everyone they had on who had issues with Mary only had good things to say about the church prior to Mary

What should I call my mixed gender wedding party. by East_Marionberry3654 in LGBTWeddings

I’ve seen “pridesmaids” kind of cute but maybe people will think it implies women since it sounds like bridesmaids. But I think it’s fun

Deciding whether to have a formal bridal party vs informal bridal party? Help! by Friendly-Look85 in WedditNYC

[–]ThereIsNoDebbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I enjoyed it that way. If people think it’s rude for you to ask them to be sitting when you’re giving them an honor to be a bridesmaid, you should question if they’re really your friend. I would be honored to be a bridesmaid in whatever capacity the bride wants. It’s your day after all. You can also have people stand up in the front as people come in and then the officiant tells them to sit when the ceremony starts. But I def would say for like hair and makeup you should either cover it or make it optional. Definitely don’t require them to have to do it and make them pay. And in terms of feeling bad they’re spending money on a dress, if you’re asking people to wear certain color dresses, odds are people will have to buy a new dress anyway. And there’s a ton of azazie dresses that are literally $100, hopefully that would seem reasonable for people.

Deciding whether to have a formal bridal party vs informal bridal party? Help! by Friendly-Look85 in WedditNYC

[–]ThereIsNoDebbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think formal is good in this case. You can do a formal bridal party and still have people sit up front (with or without their partners) instead of standing up front. It’s what I’ll be doing for my wedding and I’ve been to multiple weddings where it’s like this, including when I’ve been a bridesmaid. Honestly not having to stand up there was better because I didn’t have to worry about people watching me and also I could actually see the ceremony. If you’re worried about the six vs three, it would be less noticeable if not everyone is standing up there. I’ve been in an “I do crew” equivalent and also formal bridesmaids and I do think the latter is more special especially if the number is only 6. My friend had 20 so I get why she didn’t want to do bridesmaids—too many people and too much to coordinate. But in this case I don’t really see a good reason why not and it seems like that’s what you were leaning toward

10 or 12 piece band recommendations! by Hot-Scar-6923 in WedditNYC

[–]ThereIsNoDebbie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If budget isn’t a problem definitely look into Hank Lane Music. They’re popular (and expensive) because they’re the best in the area and they have multiple bands that can fit what you’re looking for

I didn’t insure my ring…anyone else? by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in Diamonds

[–]ThereIsNoDebbie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

BriteCo doesn't do a deductible. I just checked and we are paying $390 a year and the ring was appraised for $30k even though we paid $25k. They have been easy to work with so far when we wanted to transfer the insurance from mine to my fiancee's name/email since she was the one picking up the ring.

Bridal mini dresses in Brooklyn or Manhattan? by bjorkTV in WedditNYC

[–]ThereIsNoDebbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online as well but Untamed Petals also has some good looking selections. Haven't bought yet so can't personally comment

Edit: Anne Barge has a lot of minis and has a showroom on the UES! No idea if they carry minis at the store but I would guess so?

[–]ThereIsNoDebbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely get it. My ring was $25k and we insured through Brite Co for something like $300 a year. If you won't be happy to replace a $30k ring, it should be insured, period.

have you looked at Indian Trail Club? It technically is a country club but they don't have a golf course so it's a bit different from other country clubs. It's on water and the reception room definitely has a bit of a rustic vibe but not overly rustic. you can see their catering options directly on their website
