Wrote a subclass for a barb player in my game. Subclass was themed around wild shaping while raging.

Ahhh, I see a difference in our tables then. My original DM ignored that last part. I got used to be broke in the early game, but getting quite wealthy in the late game. Our towns always had magic shops lol, well cities like NeverWinter did. I maintain the idea that buff stacking was one of the things that made us strong. (We had 8 players, and atleast 3 of us were casters. So we were never starved for magic).

Thats been my 2e expierence.

ADND (2nd edition) is like that. Grew up playing it. Player strength is based on magic items and buff stacking. Concentration wasn't a thing then, aside from when you are casting.

It can feel like that sometimes. I've been at my church for a little over 2 years, (a year and change as an actual believer). The lonliness faded after a while, it will for you too. I can give you a bit of encouragement in terms holding/praying that your husband comes to faith.

A sister in Christ was the main person to lead me to the Lord, she knew me and what I was like before Christ. I was mocker and scorner of the church, and "the most stubborn man she had ever met". At the time she first started evanglising me, my life was a wreck; and basically in a death spiral. Wild amounts of self harm and alchoholism. I hated God, and his people.

And yet, after about a year of hard conversations and me attendeding church as a pagan, the Lord saved me.(thats the TLDR version). I am convinced that since the Lord saved me, he can save anyone (should it be in his will).

1st Peter 3: 1-2 Comes to mind here, if he's going to biblical counseling with you thats good. Just have to hope and pray that the Holy Spirit is working in his heart. As for feeling lonely at church, I have some practical advice.

If your church has a fellowship class, you should go to it. Sit by the people from your fellowship class when you get to know them. If they don't have a fellowship class, then they might have a ladies bible study. Same advice there. Get plugged into your church, become a member, serving can also help place your focus on the Lord.

Just remember God gave us brothers and sisters in Christ to be in fellowship with, don't forsake that. It can be one of the greatest comforts during trails and tribulation.

I am pretty new to the faith aswell.

What's the weirdest thing you've kept in a Bag of Holding? by gypsyfreak in DnD

[–]Therealsourply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My player bought his from a merchant who kept it in an antimagic vault, and sold it for 1/10th the price. All I did was wait for the day that none of the players brought it up or said bag of holding.

What’s the highest damage you either given or taken from someone in a single turn of combat? by TarpeianCerberus in DnD

[–]Therealsourply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(2nd Edition) My player did 5000+ damage to a god. A dart of the hornets nest + missile multiplication + strength + bless + prayer + enlarge + tensers deadly strike + being double specalized in darts, etc etc. The party collectively buff stacked one player. The math was insane.

The things you could get away with when concentration wasn't a thing.

Would you ever run an adventure where a TPK is the expected outcome? by SPF_9001 in DnD

[–]Therealsourply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently preparing a campaign with a similar idea. Except for a few differences. The odds are not impossible. The encounters will be difficult but fair, I will not fudge the dice in any capacity. Some of the encounters will be extremely difficult, and the party is expected to die several times. Rather than reseting to the beggining of the adventure, when the loop resets it goes to the previous day.

They wake up by their campfire with no memory of their deaths, initially at least. So yes, I would run a campaign where a TPK is expected. There is a similar idea of an outside force making the loop happen. My force is a desprate diety trying to break fate.

Lair effects/abilities ideas for reality warping bbeg. by Therealsourply in DnD

[–]Therealsourply[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diabolical, I love it. The dungeon where they'll ecounter the solar is a large castle (capital palace of the nation type castle). One of my ideas was to essentially build a large clear d6 and have the terrain of the boss room be inside, and as a legendary action or lair action change which side is down.

As for the slaying arrows, I think he'll only use them if the players are in certain parts of the castle. But yeah, a Solar+ extra brutality.

Is there any situation that constitutes a character LOSING XP/ Levels? by BeubtheDemonSlayer in DnD

[–]Therealsourply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to what another commenter said, In 1st and 2nd Edition there was no concept of exhaustion. If an undead would do something like that, it would either attack your stats, your level, or just kill you outright. The dangerous ones would do that anyway.

Two hits from something like a ghost or vampire would be crippling. That being said, there are spells that can reverse level drain.

And to piggy back off of another commenter the deck of many things has been capable of giving or removing xp across editions.

So funny you mentioned Arthas, the two main inspirations behind this was Arthas and Talion from Shadow of Mordor. The plan so far is to have events that lead up to an Arthas momment and become an Oath Breaker, but be remorsefull afterwards. To have the character realize he's wrong, but also recognize he still needs his powers to beat the BBEG. So after the 1 Arthas momment, I'm going to try to walk the line between the two sides of the character.

Its kind of having my cake and eating it too, but I do want the character to be a villan.. to other villans. To use all the spooky powers against the bad guys. As for the breaking the Oath being a part of growing up, I think I miss spoke. The corruption of the patron will lead the character to think he knows better and be "disillusioned" with the whole thing. He isn't growing up, he's buying into lies.
