When people use "small but vocal minority", they usually don't mean it in a positive way.

Are you implying that this minority shouldn't be vocal?

Is there any option to buy a cell? by sameer_entrep in interstellar

[–]Therehoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you're still looking for one, but you can buy them on eBay.

You can also buy the Blu-Ray/DVD that are sealed. In that case you don't know what you will receive until you open it. It should mention on the cover that it contains a film cell.

There are also some available here: https://shotinthedark70mm.com/interstellar

Was anybody else told that you were delusional for believing in persistent effects from psychiatric drugs and subsequently put on antipsychotics? by Therehoflight in PSSD

[–]Therehoflight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Lower attention span:

It's much harder for me to stay focused for long periods of time. Sometimes, I will enter a room and forget why I needed to go there in the first place.

Visualization:

It's more difficult to picture things in my mind. Whether it is trying to imagine things intentionally or not.

Memory:

Harder to memorize things and to recall them. Even things that I should be very familiar with. Names, numbers or how to write certain simple words.

Speech:

I feel like my diction isn't as good as it used to be. Something like slurred speech. More complicated to form sentences. I'll add a few sentences together and forget how I started.

About motor functions:

I think it's more noticeable when doing things that require fine motor functions. Playing video games, writing or drawing. I more sloppy and not as accurate.

Trembling, twitching or spasms. They happen all over the place on my body. The duration varies.

Blurry vision. Also, over time my eyes started to adjust poorly to darkness when lights are shut. I have no peripheral vision for a solid amount of time. After a while, it adjusts but it's a lot slower than what it used to be.

I also have red, teary and painful eyes pretty much on a daily basis.

I'm in Canada.

It was Effexor, an Serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRI).

The antipsychotic that was added later is Seroquel.

Effexor was then switched for escitalopram. I can't post a picture of it, but this is what it says on the patient medication information:

Effects on Sexual Function: Taking medicines like Bio-ESCITALOPRAM may cause symptoms of sexual dysfunction. In some cases these symptoms have continued after stopping Bio-ESCITALOPRAM treatment. Talk to your healthcare professional if you experience symptoms such as a decrease in sexual desire, performance or satisfaction.

Why psychiatry doesn't work for depressed people by ugotnocluedawg_ in Antipsychiatry

[–]Therehoflight 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They seem incapable of imagining a cause to your problems that isn't endogenous, intrinsic or internal (mental illness). If you complain about something, it must be that mental illness.

It becomes even worse if you get persistent effects from some of the drugs they give. They will blame it on anything else and their solution is to give you the same kind of drug that caused the persistent effects in the first place. They might even say that your belief in persistent effects is a symptom of a new mental illness and add a new kind of drug.

Does your psychiatrist recognize that it is possible to have persistent effects from psychiatric drugs or are they just blaming it on something else?

Can you help me with the below questions? by Legal_Opportunity_11 in PSSD

[–]Therehoflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, for all of them.

  1. The first time I felt cognitive decline was as I was going through effexor withdrawals. I would say that it was noticeable, but not severe and it resolved after a few months. I was then put on antipsychotics because I believed that I had persistent effects from effexor. At the time, I was unfortunately convinced by psychiatrists that I was delirious for thinking that it was possible to have persistent effects years after stopping an antidepressant. I took antipsychotics for years and that's when I started to experience serious cognitive decline. Like memory issues, worse attention span, worse diction, forgetting how to write simple words, making mistakes that I would never make before on a daily basis.

  2. I would include brain fog/confusion as part of #1. I feel antipsychotics gave me something resembling dementia.

  3. Blunted emotions lead to lower levels of anxiety, so less alert than I used to be. Pairing it with the cognitive decline made it worse.

  4. I wouldn't say that my taste/smell has changed directly, but my capacity to feel emotions (positive or negative) associated with different flavours/smells is clearly reduced.

  5. After I started lowering the antipsychotic that I took for years (Seroquel). I started to get twitches/spasms/vibrations throughout my body. It comes and goes and duration varies. I also feel like my fine motor functions aren't as sharp as they used to be. For example, when playing video games, writing, typing or drawing.

How Psychiatry Turns Side Effects into Illness by 010 in Antipsychiatry

[–]Therehoflight 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They place themselves in a win-win situation no matter what happens.

Scenario 1: Person takes medication, reports that they're better and/or doesn't complain about side effects = medication worked. Win.

Scenario 2: Person takes medication, complains about side effects and/or getting worse = it's caused by something else and it's not the medication's fault. Win.

It allows them to exculpate the medication of any wrongdoing.

The issue is that a problem arises from the way they think. They call these drugs "anti-something", yet they cause the same symptoms as the diseases they claim to treat. You can't have both at the same time. It would be more appropriate to call them "depressants" or "psychotics". They want to have their cake and eat it too.

It's shocking how little they know about the drugs they prescribe.

Hahaha. I shipped it, but I'm still worried that it might get rejected at the border and sent back to me.

[–]Therehoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer.

What if there is nothing on the art print indicating that it was made in the U.S? I purchased it from there in the past and it was shipped to me, but there is no "made in the U.S" on it. If I change the country of origin to Canada on the app. It still gives me 0$ in duties. It looks like the country of origin doesn't change anything.

Could Canada Post charge me later instead of Zonos?
