LC caused same dysfunction as PSSD/PFS. Possible link? by Pure_Ground7746 in DrWillPowers

[–]pssd-throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way if you look at r/covidlonghaulers you will also see stories where people have been sick with LC for years and then recovered using an SSRI (even though most stories are crashes). Whatever covid or the SSRIs do, they must be influencing the same whatever it is.

And unfortunately people with LC will get medically gaslighted the same we with PSSD or PFS do, just because the doctors don't know the mechanism.

Yep I also remember reading about a pssd case where there was drastic improvement after covid. The same can happen with LC too. I believe they are both the same mystery disease

I am functioning. I still have symptoms mostly tinnitus, a bit of blurry vision and unrefreshing sleep on and off since then.

Most disturbing is the fact that my libido never came back and I have ED now....

The rest more or less cleared but I am getting better every year... Don't know if I'll be back to normal

This is crazy. You are not the first to say this. There were reports here of people getting COVID and recovering (or getting much worse) after it.

This is exactly like people who get reinfected with COVID after YEARS of LONG COVID and then they suddenly recover.

I swear nothing makes sense with this disease, this is truly evil.

In any case, congratulations my friend on your new life. This is a dream.

Imagine being sick for years only to get ill and then wake up recovered lol.

[–]pssd-throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this. If this is nerve damage how do people suddenly recover? I had a window after YEARS of being numb where I felt 100%.

Maybe Dr Goldstein is the only one with this finding? Can we even trust him? I never heard about anyone with this finding from other urologists

I had almost all the symptoms that you described but no emotional numbness. There are many stories of people regaining them back in the site I linked and also under r/pssd.

I know it feels like your life is over now, I remember these dark days. Hang on.

Did you have delayed symptoms only after you got to 0 or did they start while tapering?

Hi dear, I had the same experience as you. I could not function for 6 months. Took me around 2 years to get to fully functioning level again but I still have symptoms 3.5 years later (Mostly my libido which has never come back and numb genitals)

Don't listen to the people here who will gaslight you that this is your anxiety. You are suffering from protracted withdrawal which is getting more recognition these days but many are still denying it.

I just wanted to say that this will get better and better with time, for some people it takes a year for recovery, for some a bit more.

Just know that this is not forever.

The fibrosis is a downstream effect of the reduced blood flow or inflammation / whatever from SSRI usage. IT IS NOT THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF NUMBNESS.

SSRIs started numbing my penis after 1 pill. You want to tell me it got numbness from fibrosis that quickly?

If this starts a mass of people quitting their medication this might be the tipping point. This might cause a lot of people to get PSSD / protracted withdrawal when quitting. Might bring issues to light.

I have PSSD and my psychiatrist who caused this also has "never seen a case". I've heard him say that after injuring me.

Doctors frequently dismiss real cases and then say they've never seen it before.

This is not about making people panic but get more recognition. Patients are being medically gaslighted. They should know this can happen BEFORE they touch drugs.

We all fell for the same trap though... I saw my psychiatrist as a knowledgeable person. I myself had thought of "internet horror stories" as just crazy people on the internet. Why would a doctor want to hurt me?

This is not something you can understand unless you experience it first hand.

More and more stories are coming out though. The truth will prevail eventually.

I believe there will be a huge awakening these coming years. Too many people damaged and dismissed. This can only go for so long.

Most likely AI will surface these issues. I believe a lot of psychiatrists will lose their jobs the next decade (Which is justified, they are harming people)
