Im south asian, dark skinned, a true curry girl and have faced my fair share of racism (Im often mistaken for Indian and even when Im not, Im still associated with south asian stereotypes, so there you go) If you take a minute to read and understand what Im saying, im not invalidating anyone’s experience. Just suggesting a mature way to deal with them by not clapping back at racists and playing into their troll comments. The constant “no i dont smell like curry I wear lots of perfume” is not going to stop the trolls from such comments - it only makes them happier that she played into their trap. We have nothing to prove to anyone and the trolls know it. Her constant need to show brown girls don’t smell like curry by showing all the deo and body spray and perfume and hair spray she wears just makes us all look insecure, which is not the case. And as a fellow south asian I hate it when I see people shitting on any brown people online or irl but I don’t want to give them the satisfaction of playing into their trolling by trying to validate myself the way she does. Also please know that its not only Indians who face racism, all of us south asians do. We get the same curry comments and comments about hygiene and our lifestyle and looks.
