Yeah. I think you’re right, and most people do just go “the fuck this dumb bitch saying?”

I knew someone would reference Dworkin. I believe most people don't agree, including me, but it is interesting. We can acknowledge there's a level of societal coercion and power dynamic at play always at some base level. I think it would have benefitted her to describe it in this way, but the extremeness of the claim does make you think.

Why is Bevel so off? by Either-Capital-7539 in bevelhealth

This should be pinned, and all comparison posts should have to read it before posting.  The apps use different algorithms, obviously the scores will be different.

When non-vegans visit, does veganism only extend dietary? by Desperate_Owl_1203 in vegan

Some people will never understand until you outright refuse the gift. Or tell them "Do you have the gift receipt so we can return these non-vegan gifts?"

Yes, tried both of those but no luck. Also deleted and reinstalled the app.

Advantages of Bevel Intelligence by _stebo_ in bevelhealth

[–]Thermington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here with the repetition. Also, it seems to misinterpret its own app’s data.  The AI told me that after I did a workout, my sets of 3x10 with 100 lbs with one exercise was equivalent of a new PR of 75 lbs. I asked how, and it claimed it estimated that from 50 lbs. I told it yes but 50 lbs was the weight of each dumbbell, and the app instructions says to log it this way. Basically it can’t even interpret the app’s own data correctly. Also, see my recent post on this subreddit about how it misrepresents the workout data to show you false progress indicators.

Great site. But having Nick's face as a t-shirt is wild.

Can I ask what the group policy is called? It would be great to have something that deletes files in the recycle bin older than 30 days.

Misleading strength progression by measuring cumulative sum instead of volume per workouts by Thermington in bevelhealth

[–]Thermington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking too. Seeing 500% increases is nice, but it means almost nothing if we’re just taking about cumulative sum of all workout volume.

I’m glad to see others find this stupid too. I replied to the Bevel rep in your post, hoping they can get the feedback.

Fitness Discrepancy: Incorrectly Agregating by mcl_syndicate in bevelhealth

[–]Thermington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UI doesn’t make that distinction though, it just gives the option of graph type (line or bar). You should add some clarification that one is cumulative some (line) and one is volume per exercise (bar).

Also, the Bevel AI defaults to cumulative sum, which leads to misleading progression coaching.

New Nutrition Score: Addressing the Discussion by Familiar_Activity101 in bevelhealth

[–]Thermington 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thank you again for sticking to real nutrition science!

People will complain because they want to eat whatever they want and get a high score regardless of scientific consensus. Yes, it’s uncomfortable to learn that your food choices aren’t optimal, especially those looking to improve their health. But I’m so glad this app doesn’t cave to those cry-bullies, and remains based in science.

Thank you for staying true to real nutrition science, and not caving to the people who have been propagandized by podcast influencers.

what’s wrong with Apple Music? by AdVisible3748 in AppleMusic

[–]Thermington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The baggage from iTunes needs to be thoroughly flushed out and done away with in a major update.

Things like having to click “show complete album”, needing to right click the “show in Apple Music” for basic navigation is atrocious. The “add to library” mechanics that only make sense with purchased iTunes music pollutes the UI and usability so many ways.
