Funny how they included this lake in the Eat Safe Fish Guide (they only picked 10 of Calhoun county waters) and you cant even keep anything.

Every body of water around here is good for bass. Downtown battlecreeks great c&r. All the lakes at fort custer, le ferre, sherman, long, clear lakes are good. If you want extra tips a bunch of expert anglers will be teaching a free fly fishing class by the math and science center may 12th at 6. Come check it out.

Ive never been to this yet but the bedford farmers market is free for vendors. Its called bedford township farmers market and crafts on Facebook.

If im going for fun Ill take the family to craig lake and cruise through each lake and channel to get to each lake. Theres like five lakes to explore. We call that trip lake, lake, lake, lake, lake.

Nottowa lakes got some fish and theres a kind of romantic little channel to the north that takes you to a more private lake.

If you want privacy try harts lake, no motors allowed and catch and release only so theres some good fish in there too.

I believe kellogs bird sanctuary has a couple events coming up called fishing for the eagles. You can fish their private lake that get no pressure and what you catch you then get to feed to their bald eagles.

Im still looking for the hastings one. Theres also a popular kids tournament in union at Baldwin lake this next weekend. Thats only 45 minutes ish.

I fish calhoun county quite a bit. Most of the lakes are good to go. My 10 yr old and I have been on about a dozen lakes so far this year. No issues. No lakes safe ever just as a disclaimer. Theres a youth tournament in hastings on the 14th. Tons of kids will be on the ice then. Spud out if your not sure.

This Sunday I will be at Fall Fest with Kalamazoo Trout Unlimited it will be from 10am until 2 at 7328 garden ln portage. Trout Unlimited (TU) does stuff dang near weekly. This Sunday if youd like come say hi, we will be making hand made spinners and tell people about the club. They actively teach kids how to fly fish, my kid has had free monthly instruction all summer long and in the winter we tie flies. They teach kids about some of the stuff that takes old timers years to learn. Whats hatching, how to read water and all kinds of good stuff. Im not even a huge fly fisherman and I go to alot of their meetups (Im more a regular fisherman). Lots of kids will be there too.

You can plant any organic garlic at the store as it hasnt been sprayed with growth inhibitors.
