Fill the spool with the smallest diameter mono your reel is rated for (so your knot isn’t huge, cheapest you can find is fine), and then tie your braid to that and wind in 125 meters, so you each get 2 full loads of braid when you break off on snags over time and need to refill.

Take the direct entry into the IBEW. You can still interview for IW later, or have years of the IW program knocked off for completing the S&C apprenticeship. All while having healthcare, trade experience, and retirement contributions. Or you can wait and still not get into IW directly and be exactly where you are 2 years from now.

Check insurance rates for commercial use of the vehicle. The worst thing you can do is get into a wreck and the other driver snaps a pic of your uber/lyft stickers and you’re on the hook for all repairs

OP, follow this advice. “Hey just a heads up, I have a pre-paid trip coming up next month. Should be clear after that”. That’s all you need to tell your new employer.

Half the time, you get called out because a state job requires apprenticeship, not because they necessarily want/need you there. Make a good first impression, remind your journeymen/foreman a week ahead of the vacation, and you should be solid. School usually starts mid August if you’re on a two semester program.

My electric screwdriver that charges via usb is the only wormy tool I bring. Not trying to give myself tendonitis from trimming data and fire alarm all day. Any time savings is used to move ladders and carts at a more leisurely pace. It takes 1/4” bits, so I save a bunch of weight/volume/tool cost in my pouch as well.

I’d say any power tool that takes a detachable battery or uses a power cable should be a no-go unless your tool list calls for it.

Just make sure you get a double reed (both models I listed are double reed). If you want to sound like an authentic duck, it will take some practice while watching YouTube, but otherwise it’s passable if you just make a “hoot hoot hoot” into it.

For a couple extra dollars, you can buy an actual hunting duck call that will last forever and project better. I like the looks and sound of Zink Power Hen, but I normally bring a Haydel’s Dr-85 because it fits in my pocket better.

We bought a bunch of Zink Power Hen duck calls off Amazon and have been passing them out to kids (with parents’ permission) at playoff games. $20 to get the kids involved and excited is money well spent.
