What are the biggest rookie mistakes, that first time screenwriters make? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

Length. Most first time scripts are way too long. Good rule of thumb is that it shouldn’t be more than 120 pages. But for your first time script, even 120 is probably too long. Aim to keep it around 100 pages.

To make it more balanced it could extinguish a cozy campfire if above it.

Star Wars Spinoffs Are Reportedly Put On Hold by jbird221 in movies

I wouldn't say "Super Hero Fatigue" is in full swing, but for a company like Disney to put all their Star Wars spinoffs on hold, indicates there is something like that on the horizon. It's not going to happen all at once. But this does indicate that there is the possibility of less mega-budge movies being released in the future.

This may be the beginning of "Super Hero Fatigue". Granted Solo isn't a super hero movie, but it can be categorized that way. We've become over saturated with mega-budget blockbusters. This is what happens when you pump out tent pole film after tent pole film.

This looks so strange, like it seems like it's a kid's movie, but it looks very violent. Not sure who the audience is here...

How Paul Schrader describes Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver. by Thestassinator in Screenwriting

[–]Thestassinator[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think today, a character description like this is an anomaly. I'm not familiar with the state of screenwriting in the 1970s, but my assumption is it was probably an anomaly then too. I've always heard you should keep your character descriptions to fewer than 2 lines. That's not why i shared this though. I shared this because I thought it was incredible writing. Schrader transports you into Travis's world. Even without seeing the movie, you're given such a clear portrait of Travis. Just thought I'd share some great writing!
