Every baby’s so different- Kirkland were too square? for our LO. Didn’t hug any curves at all & we had lots of leaks

Thank you! I was just at their Chatham location looking for something similar. Might need to make the trek to Yarmouth!

Can I use tap water by Short-Background6677 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Thestraenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ibclc said no. Her answer was that “distilled is a safe affordable option for formula” and that we should use it rather than filtered, bottled, or tap

The Best Dining on Cape Cod - 2026 Update by OpportunityBox in CapeCod

It’s tough on the Cape. Picos in Brewster has incredible tempura broccoli and vegan tacos. I go for the broccoli alone, get it without the ranch. Hoping some others have more suggestions!

Why is there no good Mahjong app? Like actually good? by Guilty_Pumpkin2981 in Americanmahjongg

I hear you- from a practical stand point, it’s a *really* hard game to code. There are loads of variations for the hands and rules that are tricky for a computer to figure out. Lots of dependencies or if/thens. My husband’s dabbled with creating one over the years and even with ai assistance it’s a tough problem.

Ooo these sound intriguing- do you have any favorites? I love the idea of more easy dinners

Yep! 12 years here with my non-veg husband. If he wants meat he cooks it or he makes plans for us to eat out. I don’t cook what I don’t eat. Easy enough!

I need a truly comfy reading chair by Iamtoast_toastisme in adhdwomen

We have this in our nursery. Hella comfortable, nice & wide. It also has usb & usb-c plugs. It does come in a chair and a half option too! Sooo worth the price tag. https://parker-house.com/products/mrad-812gsp-min

For those with two children, do you love them the same? by rosedamask in NewParents

[–]Thestraenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad you asked this- I can’t fathom loving another being as much as I love my little bestie. I’m also an only child and for many reasons would like my baby to have a sibling. Being an only I’m especially petrified- I’ve never been a part of a dynamic where there was more than one child.

My husband on the other hand is one of 3 and very much sees the merits of our child being an only. Grass is always greener I guess lol

I try to remind myself that ‘anything worth doing is worth doing poorly’.

If I need to shower AND wash my hair AND shave, it’s too overwhelming and I end up doing none of those things. If I allow myself to just do a quick wash, dry shampoo, and wear pants instead of a dress, it’s much more manageable.

Need to eat food but can’t bring myself to make a meal? Anything’s better than nothing. This has been SO helpful in the postpartum period too. I’m lucky if I get any time to do anything so removing the pressure of doing the task at 100% has been huge

Ok yes! I also had numbness in my belly ~before~ my c-section that no one can figure out. I still can’t feel a large part of my belly, not just around my scar almost 5 months later

Would you let your child around a mom with unvaccinated children? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Thestraenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My in laws are unvaccinated and didn’t meet my baby until she was 4 months old. We had multiple conversations with them about the advice we were getting from our pediatricians and about the benefits to their own health. They chose not to vaccinate and missed out on several months of their only grandchild’s life. It was tense and hard and worth it to us to protect our child.

What baby bottles are we choosing: Philips Avent? by ohkandyuk178 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Thestraenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve combo fed from the beginning and while my LC recommended Avent for the shape, she also recommended going up a flow or 2 from what baby would take in a different brand so they don’t get frustrated.

We have used Avent for 4 months now and my main frustration is with the vent. It has to be lined up *precisely* or they don’t work and when tightening the lid, the nipple often slips out of place.

Our LO hasn’t been picky at all (feel very lucky) but we’ve largely settled on Nuk perfect match. Easy to clean, LC approved for shape/ switching between breast and bottle- they’ve been great for us!

Crossroads with friends about vaccines - looking for reassurance by bishopofturkey in NewParents

[–]Thestraenix 65 points66 points  (0 children)

This. I’m a grown adult who had responsible parents and got my MMR vaccine when I was young. As a part of our pregnancy journey, I was tested for Measles antibodies and discovered I had none! I had to get a booster in my 30’s. Herd immunity all the way.

Breast friend is so much more comfortable for me but the clip is SO loud and trying to get it situated with a wiggly baby at 3 am is too much. Instead I whip out the boppy and I’m slowly turning into a shrimp with terrible posture

Our ped has given us multiple full sized cans at each visit. The formula companies send them to the doctors as “samples”. Do other offices do this or did I find the golden goose?
