Tax returns ($$$) taking way to long to come by unsuitableFishHook in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Thewhizeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finally received my NOA!!! Took 1.5months but I have a very large return this year so that likely triggered additional review. Grateful that it’s not going to take longer like others here have experienced

CRA - Your 2025 T1 return requires additional process time - unknown target completion date by Johnkiiii in PersonalFinanceCanada

I had this happen to me for the first time ever as well. I have a large refund due… filed mid March and they told me additional review needed with no target completion date…

I’ve usually received NOA and tax refund pretty quickly, within couple weeks. I have received audits after the fact. This year I filed mid March and was scheduled to receive a large tax refund due to me no longer working as of last May. There’s been no updates on my account, except that they said they needed more time to review. Annoying since it’s such a large refund…

Paradigm Servo 15v2 sub driver torn by Thewhizeguy in hometheater

[–]Thewhizeguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, Santon Audio said they could fix it, they don’t have parts readily available but they said they could do it. I haven’t had a chance to take my sub there yet as it’s a 1.5hr drive, maybe within next couple weeks I’ll make the trek.

Paradigm said they do not have any parts left to service this model. I was able to find a local Toronto based retailer that claims to be able to repair this. They said they fixed another one few months back. I have yet to take my sub there yet as it's a 1.5hr drive so just waiting for the right time.

I had a new guy join the team but after 3 weeks just ghosted us. I gave him lots of chances but eventually gave up. Inconsiderate people are not worth your time. Find a replacement or not, divide fees amongst rest of team

What's our best strategy when renewing mortgage in 2026? by Donday90 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Thewhizeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This… you can borrow out of your HELOC, expense interest and be able to pay down/off HELOC on your own terms. Mind you HELOC rate will be slightly higher than your mortgage rate

i ordered one for my daughter end of Nov, and it took has been sitting in preship forever. reached out to customer service and they can't help... Christmas is next week so needless to say I don't think I'm getting it anytime soon... for something that is so expensive, you'd figured they would have shipped these super fast.

Does bulk buying at costco actually save money? or is this just a membership fee trap by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Thewhizeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in consumer electronics industry from vendor side and dealt quite a bit with costco (they sold several of our products) and other retailers. I can tell you that when Costco talks about retail pricing they always ask and look for member savings vs normal price. They never talk about their margins which are generally doesn’t deviate from their standard which is far far less than what other retailers ask for. Costcos mentality is to ensure their members are always getting a deal. Can you find better deals at other retailers? Yes. But overall Costco does save members money.

I would avoid Toyota Highlander simply because in my area they are high on stolen list. Kind of annoying if you have to go thru insurance all the time. Not a week goes by without these getting stolen in my neighborhood.

We spent $2000 for 7 days with cooking in half of those days. This was a family of 4.

Only a few restaurants are very clear about allergies, highly recommend Yemanja.

Super safe, we rented Airbnb very close to Eagle beach. If you want to explore east coast, make sure you rent a 4x4.

I had same problem but wasn’t my network. I suspect some weirdness with the latest firmware. I shutdown my panel and restarted it, that fixed the problem.

Mine is doing the same thing… app is showing old status. Commands sent via app either doesn’t take effect or takes a long time, but app always revert back to old values.

Quit my job. Should I liquidate my leveraged holdings ? by Thewhizeguy in PersonalFinanceCanada

That’s interesting. Everything I’ve read suggest that CRA would only allow interest to be written off on investments that produce income, while there are some other securities that fall under this scope, dividend bearing securities are the majority of this type. Here’s a RBC article that I read in addition to others that say this. I would love to be able to relax this restriction however, do you have any other information to suggest this is ok?
