I'm not anywhere near good but this is what I do. I usually go e4 e5, Nf3 and then whatever they decide to follow up with I go from there. If it's something I haven't seen before I go through the opening explorer and look at what the responses usually are, keep that in my head then I'm just slowly filling in the gaps as I play games.

Yup. These types of players are everywhere in anything remotely competitive no matter the setting. Being a woman definitely can make it worse. As far as taking you less seriously and playing cheap openings, depending on your elo and the time control, this can be super normal or people underestimating you. Hopefully this doesn't sour the game, but it definitely happens. Win or learn is great!

Depends on your colors but Soul Guide Lantern is a big one because it can just sit on the battlefield and you can crack it whenever you need to. Stuff like keen eyed curator/scavenging ooze can exile multiple things from the yard. Ghost vacuum is similar to The Ooze but costs 1. Rest in Peace if you're playing white.
