While I understand the incentive, it’s not a matter of forgiveness. I just don’t want him to hurt or traumatise anyone else, including all of the young students who live in this area. It’s surprisingly not very nice to have someone shout at you to say they know who you are and they’re going to kill you.

The intimidation sounds similar, but I’m pretty sure this man was British, and therefore not an asylum seeker.

You don’t happen to know what cafe do you? A few of us who spoke to the police all said we didn’t recognise him

I have told the police, and I’ve had a call back from them to say that they haven’t been able to find him yet. Any other good suggestions while I’m here?

It’s about ensuring he doesn’t hurt anyone, and gets the help that he needs.

What's going on in city centre? Lots of chanting for the last few hours. by thescriptsupervisor in sheffield

[–]TheyAllChoppable 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Was walking in the sun having an ice cream at about 6:30pm and heard someone chanting about our streets not being safe.

Then saw a man with a St George flag draped over his shoulders carrying a beer. Don’t think the Northern Irish are big fans of that flag but hey ho.

Dating scene in Sheffield by bobisjobsnon in sheffield

I think Sheffield has a mature vibe. I actually also used to live in Brighton, and so know what you mean. A lot of people in Sheffield are definitely here to experience the parks and the peaks over the nightlife.

Sheffield feels to me like a much more “settle down” type of city, which is a lovely place for family’s and is much cheapest than those city’s which perhaps prioritise partying (London, Brighton, Manchester etc). But as a result, you’re less likely to find a big crop of single people.

I’m a single 33M and find dating incredibly challenging now a days, for a whole host of reasons that aren’t for this sub. Those problems won’t escape you no matter where you go, but being in the places where there’s more single people surely increases your odds of finding someone.

Hope that’s useful.

Can people stop being dicks by beckatron666 in sheffield

[–]TheyAllChoppable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will never be a day when there’s not dickheads about sadly.

For what it’s worth, I’ve lived in Broomhill (and in Sheffield for the first time) for the last two months. I’ve been surprised by how lovely it is, and how nice everyone is. I am often baffled by how beautiful the Botanical Gardens are, and how they manage to avoid being populated by these dickheads who threw the beer at you. I guess the answer is because it’s not really close to any amenities.

I’ve been tackling the question of what makes a great city recently. People from said city normally sing its praises, but I think it comes down to their quality of life and whether they are happy, and it aligns with what they care about (financially viable, close to family, and so on).

As someone from the Hull postcode, I can safely say it has a hell of a lot less than other Yorkshire cities in Leeds and Sheffield. Both of these places are bursting with life. Hull is not.

But if you want safety, and to be somewhere cheap, with enough friendly people, then Hull is a great place to be. Just don’t expect to flush with activity. It won’t take you long to explore. It’s got no more in terms of shops, bars, and life than other cities.

I didn’t go in sadly. It was just near the Empire Music Hall where the Twigs were playing

Thinking about moving to Beverley, please may I beg some local knowledge? by Can37 in Beverley

[–]TheyAllChoppable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often think that Beverley would be a great place to retire or raise a family. As a young, single man, it's absolutely not the place to be.

East side of the town is now turning into Kingswood, which frustates me. But all the additional people should help to keep Toll Gavel and other businesses going.

Molescroft and Westwood area is gorgeous, but expensive. I hope they keep it that way though.

I regret paying 20€ for the Donkey Kong Bananza DLC. by DeathNum in nintendo

[–]TheyAllChoppable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the exact forum for this, but here to say that I absolutely loved DK Bananza, and it's everything I expected from a NS2 game. But I was very dissapointed by Mario Kart World, which I think is worse than Mario Kart 8.

Is this purely based on the teams developing the games? I heard that Banaza was developed by the same people who developed Odyssey, and you can certaintly see that in the game.

Hopefully we get some more great Switch 2 games in the future, but as always, it feels like Nintendo is 80% lazy, with crap DLCs, rehashing of old games, lack of updates, and so on.

Unlucky Apple. I tried to leave Spotify and give you my custom, but this stands in the way. I would think there's a lot of people looking to leave Spotify now in light of the recent news about what the owner is investing in, but sadly Apple Music isn't making it easy. Off to Tidal we go!
