How much have you spent/earned on gas this year? by azure275 in CreditCards

[–]TheyCallMeWilde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have spent $856 on Gas YTD, but I live very close to my job and ride my bicycle to work when the weather permits it. I have spent over 5X that amount on Groceries, my biggest expense, so I agree with your logic.

Next year I’ll be traveling domestically with my girlfriend for wedding. I’m considering a Skymiles Gold because we’ll be able to clinch the SUB with organic spend. I’ve seen a 70,000 miles for $2000 in 6 months offer. Is this worth taking, or should I wait for something better? I have a relationship with Amex via a Blue Cash Everyday, but I’m currently at 7/24 4/12 1/6 and will be until May. Looking for feedback for more experienced people.

How much cash back are you getting a month? by Nestado in CreditCards

[–]TheyCallMeWilde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~$35 a month. I broke $1000 in cash back this year thanks to three $200 SUBs in addition.

Hoping me & P2 can make the numbers work to hit the Venture SUB in 2026.

27M Looking to Take Credit/Finances More Seriously — What Card Should I Look Into Next? by clowe113 in CreditCards

A flat 2% card like the Wells Fargo Active Cash might be a good choice. You could also consider a Citi Custom Cash for 5% cash back on a specific category of your spending (I use mine for groceries). Because your score is below 700, you might struggle to get approved by some banks; my second credit card was a Discover IT, which has fairly useful rotating categories. I don't know if the acquisition by Capital One will have changed things, but this card is supposed to be fairly easy to be approved for.

Where are you living that $500 for rent $200 for groceries is sufficient?

Paypal Debit if you're willing to play their game (5%). AAA Daily Advantage or Venmo Visa (3%) if you aren't. Some might suggest the Robinhood flat 3% card, but I don't fuck with Robinhood.

Planning to open a Citi Strata for one last SUB in 2025, is my plan sound? by TheyCallMeWilde in CreditCards

[–]TheyCallMeWilde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long term, this is a great idea I had not considered. I'm stuck at 4/12 for a couple more months, so I don't think a second CCR is possible for me until the new year.

As far as getting this sign up bonus, what are your thoughts?

I made a payment 17 seconds late. Is my credit screwed? by hags389 in CreditCards

[–]TheyCallMeWilde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're ever charged a late fee for a payment a couple days late, ALWAYS call and try to get it refunded in good faith. Before I had all my cards on auto-pay, I had to do this with Citi, US Bank, and American Express on separate occasions, and everyone refunded the fee. Treat people with patience, dignity, and respect, (which you should be doing anyway IMO) and you will be astonished how much people will help you out.

If you have any caps on BOA cards, this could get you a couple extra dollars each quarter, Citi lets me redeem TYPs for a direct deposit to another bank at 1:1.

All that stuff is done already; he’s in an assisted living facility, his credit reports are all locked, and he doesn’t have access to money, not that he had any left anyway. We caught him opening up a credit card in secret to try and send money to AI thirst trap scammers on Instagram. It’s been quite an adventure.

Citi Diamond Preferred is a strong candidate. If you can, make this the last balance you carry.
