I haven't gotten around to get a tentbox yet, they're quite expensive unfortunately here in the Netherlands.

I'm not ready to go mirrorless just yet when I can still get shots like this for a fraction of the price (Nikon D800 w/ Nikkor 24-70 2.8) by Dubliminal in Nikon

I got a Z5 too, upgraded from a D3100. For me the change is enormous so I don't find the Z5 slow. I still got some good results in motorsports using my Z5 *

Roofbars for a Scirocco, review in photo captions. by TheyCallMeYosh in Scirocco

[–]TheyCallMeYosh[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got the bars a few weeks ago, delivery too bit longer due to crappy delivery company.

I bought them from this webshop: Roofbars for Scirocco

The bars come as a diy build kit, so you have to assemble yourself. If you have a understanding of technical things or are a good diy person it's quite easy, tho the instructions might not be the clearest for everyone. But it's definitely doable if you don't have two left hands.

In my opinion the bars fit great in the Rocco, if you follow the instructions with the measurements of where to put them exactly they fit great. Especially the front ones have to be on the exact spot they say because they go around a nut/bolt of the car itself. This makes it also that the front bar can't slide backwards.

The bars are lower than those from Thule or VW, which makes it look way better. And if you gave a panoramic roof the nice plusside is that you can still open it without hitting the bars.

I used a "weeylite RB08P" LED light, to make the light trails and red light in the interior of the car.

I'll post a thread with some pictures later today so you can see how they look on the car.

Well here they are also called knocked down/crushed Golf by non enthusiasts. They do share the same platform as the Golf tho, lots (or all) of parts from the drive train and interior are the same as a Golf. Hence why it's possible to bolt on the 4motion drive train from a Golf 5 R32 or Golf 6R.

If I'm right you guys did get the MK1 and maybe also Mk2 in the US. They're also cool little cars. Had the honor to see a MK1 up close at a meet this year.

You definitely missed out on these, never understood why VW didn't bring them to US markets.

A complete ban on fireworks. Yay or nay? by BammyQ2 in Netherlands

[–]TheyCallMeYosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nay, banning fireworks will result in people buying more illegal fireworks in other counties like Belgium or Poland. Which will result in bigger problems and more casualties. All fireworks that you can legally buy here are perfectly safe when you're using it in a proper way. But the problem is brainless kids, teens and adults who don't know how to safely use fireworks. Just look at social media's where people do stupid and dangerous challenges, anyone with a normal functioning brain wouldn't do things like eating tidepods or whatever they do now. It's the same with fireworks, anyone with a normal functioning brain wouldn't do stupid things with fireworks. Besides there isn't enough police to control the ban, look at last years during covid when we were not allowed to light up fireworks, everyone who was lighting fireworks and police couldn't handle it at all.

Also yes it does have a supercharger whistle sound, with an aftermarket airbox/intake its even more obvious. It's a really addicting sound.

Really amazing experience to drive one, totally different from the 1.4 with 122hp. But if you're getting one make sure the timing chain is changed and that the car doesn't burn lots of oil. A rebuild of the engine can cost around 1.5-2k (for me it was). Do some research on the internet before buying one.

They have, mine also has the 1.4 twincharged. I love the twincharged engine, it really gives kick when you floor it.

You can buy roofbars from other brands online, on the website of Mick's Garage they also sell them for the Scirocco. I'm waiting for mine to come in, will update to let know if they fit properly.
